I downloaded the game today and while I haven't played quite yet it does look to be quite interesting. Its seems basically like Diablo 3 but with LoL style release of new heroes and customization. Team Up With Friends Join with your friends as you fight your way through the game I will let you guys know what its like if I get a chance to play it. I very much dislike games like Diablo, but for some reason the action, explosions, and colorful effects as well as the pace of the game seem to stick out to me, as well as the fact that I can play as Deadpool! Anyone played it yet? What were your thoughts?
While it looks like an interesting concept, I see it marketed towards a much younger age group. The fun of ARPG is the ability to build and design a character from scratch, I much rather play my own superhero than a licensed ip'd one. *shrug*
Well its not called "Your Own Hero". It's marketed towards people who like Marvel. The super heroes that everyone who is about 20+ grew up on. The game is fun. I like it more than diablo or PoE. Though that's because those games bore the shit out of me with the two button system. You get to pick 8 skills ingame with heroes. The "power development" is kinda of lacking with only about 10-12 skills per tree. It's a two monther.
Played through the starter map/intro. It is interesting and I think it will do well as a F2P game. The map UI was easy enough to understand how to move objective to objective and I like the idea of the maps randomly generating. The con of that is that the play area will feel a bit generic, but overall I feel it is a plus. It reminded me of playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance for console in combat, they have enough to make you want to try new characters and looks to be unique. This comes from someone who never had an interest in Diablo and played just a tad bit of Torchlight II before quitting from boredom, not my style of game, maybe if it wasn't forced click-to-move and I could WASD. Also note that there is no PvP as of yet. I'll be playing it again randomly here and there.
Not sure when the game launches but hopefully they will get all the extra things added in as it has the potential to be very very fun with the more massive multiplayer effect by fighting with a dozen other people for bosses. Plus it's marvel. Who doesn't want to fight sentinels, silver surfer, and galactus.
IMHO the game has pretty crappy balance so far. Hope they get on that asap. Before this recent wipe, i played Thor to lvl20 only using 1 single aoe skill. Why only 1 skill? cause all other skills from Thor, felt like crap. Power Name: Thunderstorm Description: Summon a storm that has multiple chances to stun enemies in an area. Level Unlocked: 14 Level 1 Values: Area duration 3.2 seconds Spirit Cost: 33 Thats the one i used. Mobs were dying in 1 hit pretty much. Elite and champs took 2-3 hits. During that time, i haven't used a single hp pot. Also my other issue was the costumes. Hated abit that all the cool items you put on yourself, don't reflect on your character looks. Oh and the further i went in levels, the more monotonous the game felt. If your btw interested what skills any heroes got, let me know i'll post em.
This seems off to me. From what I remember, which could be off, there are various gear slots for stat items which don't alter your appearance (which I assume is what you mean by costumes). Then there are actual rare drops called costumes that go into the costume slot to change your appearance. They basically made it where you can look how you want and not worry about gear, what is known as an appearance tab in other games. These rare-drop costumes are also what is in various preorder packs and what I presume their cash shop will be based around.
So far they got 2-3 costumes for each hero tops. You can either buy em at cash shop or get them as a very rare drop. I doubt we'll see more then that at release. Maybe for ironman, cause of all the current hype around him. My issue, is that its a loot heavy game where you don't get to see how your loot looks. Example D3 sets/uniques. They look epic and thus you spend X amount of time trying to get it. In MH you find a unique/legendary, you put it on and your still wearing a costume you bought at level 1. Thors hammer, will always look exactly the same. And by the time they bring in new costumes after release, i guarantee you'll be done with the game.
I am glad loot doesn't change your look. How dare you insinuate my iconic image of deadpool be sullied by various trinket attachments and accessories. The balance is something they will change I imagine. Sucks the game levels do not draw you in. From what I saw it looks good but if it is like D3 where every dungeon is more or less the same then that would suck.
Haha, you should check out scarlet witch. She has this flame AoE that does the same thing but sits in place forever so you just grab 50 mobs and drop them instantly. But yea the game is like most other games in the genre. It will get boring fast. As for costumes, you might get drops but you get a lot of stuff to "upgrade" your costume which mods them with stats.
Don't Click Me. Actually many of the heroes currently have 4-7 costumes. Black Widow, Cyclops, Jean, Deadpool, Hulk, Spiderman, Wolverine. Ironman, as you have guessed is way up there, he has 11 costumes that I know of. When you think about it, these costumes are going to be how they make their cash, they will likely keep pumping these (and new characters) out League of Legends style. The costumes already exist in the comics, they just have to art them up for the game. It is easy money.
Pirate Deadpool is an actual official outfit, albeit, a small comic book addition. I have a feeling the developers will sell out and create silly outfits for people, but I don't care about that. So long as MY character can look the way I want him to then I am fine with that. That is the reason why I dislike having items show up on your character. The game looks fun from what I have seen. They offer an open world with world bosses and public quest events that everyone can partake in as well as instanced areas where you or your team can fight in a storyline capacity. I wish they made each character's storyline a bit more varied than changing a few simple lines. The game is, however, an MMO, which means they will be adding new storyline and hat should be nice. Sucks they haven't said much about if they will have PvP on release.
Yeah, I flipped through their costumes section a bit to see if these were things they just made up or not and apparently they source where they got each costume. I'm sure the fans go nuts for that sort of stuff. I found this one humorous. Anyone who was curious about seeing more since this topic became pretty costume heavy, this is where I was getting pics and all. You can click the heroes and see what costumes they threw in their expensive pack (I don't think there is anything pack exclusive in there). http://presale.marvelheroes.com/index.php/presale_en_us/the-ultimate-pack.html

New Player vs. Player area In the first version of our developing player vs. player system, begin your PvP experience by locating the three PvP faction leaders located in Xavier’s Mansion. Complete a mission for any one of these leaders, and you will be able to enter the PvP area on the side of that faction! You may not be able to complete the mission they give you right away, so keep an eye out as you play in Latveria for the opportunity to complete the mission they’re asking you to do. In the PvP area, you can defend your base against attack, move into the middle to fight enemy players, or go into the enemy base! There’s a big boss in each of the two enemy bases that you can fight to get loot. Of course, the other players may not want to let you do that.... This is an early version of PvP and will evolve over time. PvP is limited to the PvP area. Defeats in PvP are noted in your character sheet, but do not count towards Bloodstone Totems (see below). New Powers Every hero now has at least 21 powers. New Level Cap The level cap for Marvel Heroes is now 35. Enemies only exist up to level 28. Bloodstone Totems grant powerful bonuses to your hero – but those bonuses are reliant on your hero remaining undefeated! Upon purchase a Totem’s effect is set according to how many defeats you have suffered. Track your defeats on your character sheet under the ‘Stats’ tab. Defeats in player-vs-player are tracked on this sheet, but do not count against your Totem bonus. Bloodstone Totems have a required level range from 20 to 30. With enough credits, you can buy a Totem before the required level, but will not be able to equip it before the level required. Totems are bound on equip to a specific hero. Clea’s rank cannot be upgraded, and you may only refresh her stock of Totems every 20 hours. Note: This is the first version of the Bloodstone Totem system. We welcome your feedback on it! New In-Game Store Item Fortune Cards – These cards, purchasable from the in-game store and from Gambit in-game (in Xavier’s School and the S.H.I.E.L.D. Key-Bindings: There are many new options available for key binding. Gameplay: There is now an option available to show ‘floating damage numbers’ on enemies. Audio: Audio options are being implemented in a later patch. In the interim, the following audio options are available via slash commands. Type the following commands in the chat window (press Enter to access) to alter audio options. You’ll see confirmation of changes in chat. When using the slash commands, type command followed by a space, and a number between 1 (lowest) and 10 (highest) to set volume. Example: type /audiovolume 2 to set overall audio volume to 1 (lowest level). Commands are as follows: /mute: Toggles all audio off or on. /audiovolume: Adjusts the volume of all audio. /voiceovervolume: Adjusts the volume of character voiced dialogue. /motioncomicvolume: Adjusts the volume of the motion comics. /musicvolume: Adjusts the volume of the background music. /sfxvolume: Adjusts the volume of the sound effects. Performance Overall graphical performance should be improved for lower spec PCs in situations involving heavy amounts of particle effects, such as when a lot of players, NPCs or enemy bosses are on screen. This is because PCs defined as being ‘low’ and ‘mid-range’ will now have particle effects automatically switch to a lower level of detail in heavy particle situations. Crafting/Vendors A ‘Buyback’ tab is now available at Weapon, Gear and Crafting vendors. Access this tab to buy back any items recently sold for credits. Note, items donated to increase a vendor’s rank cannot be reclaimed. User Interface Local chat will now appear in speech panels above heroes’ heads. The Help section (accessible on hitting Escape) has more information on basic game concepts, and a glossary of terms. The Credits counter has been redesigned. It will now pop up and display the number of credits just picked up, rather than your overall total. You can now right-click on party member portraits to send them a message. While in a party, you can also press Ctrl + Left Click another hero to access the same function. In-game text has been revised in many places. The secondary resources bar art has been updated. Bugs submitted via the bug button are now limited to 256 characters in length.
