First thing I note is that this is a 60 second add. Longer than regular TV adds. Second thing, no mention of it being banned. Just that this is a directors cut. Which makes sense if the add is too long, since longer adds cost more to air. I don't know if a shorter version of the add is shown or not, as I don't watch much TV. But I've seen enough youtube videos claiming to be a banned add that turned out not to be banned when I investigated, along with this video not even claiming to be banned, that I have to ask if it has really been banned.
Nope. Ads very rarely get pulled after making it to air - this one didn't make it past the censors because "it uses sexual appeal in an exploitative and degrading manner as well as using sex to sell an unrelated product". Or in plain English, it was too racy for an ad about a crap burger joint. These ones all made it to air, and despite a number of complaints none got pulled:
I don't think that add would have done much to promote their brand down here. Too many US flags and if that's how incompetent their cooks are in public, how bad are they in the kitchens where you don't see them ? That and I had never heard of this brand before. Maybe getting their add pulled was intentional. If the complaint is valid, why should they wait for a second ?
yea carls jr is new here.. for those that dont know. its high end burger joint...read as overpriced mcD
It turns out they have 7 stores across New Zealand, 6 of them in Auckland and one in Palmerston North. Starting off on Auckland makes sense. But what's with the one store in Palmerston North ?
The vid itself has been banned lol. Damn i miss Carls JR... didn't have one since 2007 and it was in Singapore
