My Kaspersky 2 year licence is about to expire, so im wondering which one should i buy next? Names that came up in my research were Comodo, Avast Pro, Bitdefender and Webroot. Any suggestions/thoughts?
At home I never have run anti virus, and have only had 1 problem with a virus in the past decade. At work we run a combo of Kaspersky and Malwarebytes that seems to work ok.
I use Avast and only issue I had was running the initial PS2 Beta. I also use malwarebytes, spybot search&destroy, and CCleaner. Better safe than sorry, right?
I think the biggest factor I have seen for protecting from virus' these days is to get a browser that you can have adblock on, as many times a virus will come through an online add now days. Possibly disabling javascripting by default would be good too with a plugin, and then just allow whatever sites you know you want to let through and have scripting. Those two things will keep you well protected even without running any anti virus.
Meh, Anti-virus stuff is always going to be someone telling you something different. Firefox + CC cleaner and a brain. If you need to scan something then just get a free one thats not McAfee, Norton, or anything that a public education system would use. Avast, AVG(still iffy but easy to get), etc.
I have Norton 360 running, never giefs me problems, plus it rlly helps in optimizing the computer. I got in when they had a reduction in prize I have a 3 computer licence for 3 years. DOnt know your system specs, it will slow you down on an older computer.
Windows has a built in one now, does it not? Personally, I would just say use that and as usual follow the advice enigma gave a few posts up. I am personally using a licensed version of AVAST Pro. I have used AVG in the past. I haven't noticed a difference between any that I have used other than Norton being a fucking Hog of a program.
I highly suggest using: Avast(Basic protection is good for you). Keep your windows updated Spybot(Install the firefox/IE protections) Regular computer cleans every 4-6 months.
No it doesn't. But you can download Microsoft Security Essentials for free. For home use the three I see constantly recommended as being good free ones are Avast, Avira and MSE. While their protection is about the same, MSE does have one major advantage over the others: It does not come with adds nagging you to upgrade to the paid one.
MSE has actually be pretty highly rated overall the past couple years too. EDIT: guess I spoke too soon. For this year MSE just failed in testing done by AV-Labs for 0-day threats. Well below the industry standard mark. http://vr-zone.com/articles/microso...cation-after-badly-failing-av-test/18117.html
I use MSE for basic protection and mainly comodo firewall, since my experience did teach me that there is always new malware and AV are not able to keep up 100% all the time but at least a good firewall can block and notify you about odd applications trying to connect out =/
