You mean the one on Steam or the "free" one with crappy graphics?

We have probably a solid 5 people, if not more who have a nice set of cards on MTGO.

ME, Kyoji, Jarien, Reignier, (drag i think) and probably more actually.

However, kyoji builds cheese decks and you dont want to play him unless you feel like hitting yourself in the balls for about an hour.

They aren't fake cards....you can have them turned into real cards at any time. You are basically buying the pixel version until you deem it you want a real one.

IMO the online version is better as they run all the same tournaments and you can do it all from home and with people from across the world.

    Pros to Online:
    - The only body odor you will smell is yourself
    - You do not have to waste gas or time getting to a game shop
    - You can play anytime you want or feel like playing
    - They have tournaments and more of them online (both official and unofficial)
    - More people to play with online including people from around the world and the XoO community if you wish
    - You can transfer digital cards to paper
    - Online digitial cards are significantly cheaper than paper cards
    - You can find more people that play various game types such as EDH, Multiplayer, THG, etc
    - All the rules are automated. No need to bring dice or keep track of numbers. It is all done for you. Thus no cheating
    - The online version has been running strong for many years now and it still has a ton of players and community.

    Cons to Online:
    - You will need to rebuy cards you may already have as you cannot transfer paperback to digital
    - The game initially costs $10 - but it gives you back $2 worth of event tickets and 200ish starter cards
    - You do not get the personalized body odor experience of playing in person
    - Less sociable and more anonymity

Essentially I cannot think of a reason not to sell the paper version of the cards and just play online unless you just prefer playing in person. Granted if you can convince your friends to play online and if they sell their cards they would have enough money to buy what they sold plus some as online cards are cheaper.

I have an account, but dont use. Way to invested in paper cards to make the switch. Seems fun though, i tend to use Cockatrice for testing though which is kinda the same cheapy version of MTGO

Yeah take no offense guys. Just bitter I have so many cards and nobody to really play with anymore. I was just hatin'
I might just end up selling my stock at some point. I've played for well over a decade so I have a small fire hazard I could stand to part with.

Anyone who "sold out" recently? And what method did you use? Got a good site to reference or did you just go somewhere locally?

Best bet is to figure out how much each is worth and sell them on ebay or through your local gameshop although if you have no idea of their worth the gameshop might try to rip you off. Assuming they are in good shape and you have some decent cards you should net yourself quite a bit of money.

I took extreme offense to your statements as I could only picture you talking and dancing at the same time thanks to your signature. ;)

Don't do it decoy! Playing in person is much more fun, although online has some pros, like being able to see some interesting decks... like ones that cost a grand to run with. But yeah, I sold my cards, and regret it, it's a hobby to collect them, don't be fooled into thinking you have to switch if you enjoy collecting like I did! I'm back into collecting the real deal once again and regret selling.

And on this note, I believe you have to have the entire set in order to do this do you not? It's not one card for one card, and also it has to be on the most current set I believe as well.

So no one wants to play with me? *tear*

I always enjoy playing with people from XoO and people I can talk to in TS. If anyone is interested in playing casually at night let me know and i'll add you to my friends list in-game. Perhaps I will treat you to a few booster packs as a welcome.
