It was to be expected in anticipation of the GeForce GTX 650 (Ti) release. AMD's Radeon HD 7700 and 7800 series graphics cards keeps dropping. It's not an official price cut, but rather AMD's partners lowering their prices. Starting today, AMD Radeon HD 7850 1GB costs $159 (after rebate), whereas the 2GB version carries $189 official price-tag. The AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition graphics board now has manufacturer suggested retail price of $119. If you want a solid budget video card, now might be a good chance to look into this.
I think the 8000 series is supposed to launch pretty soon isnt it? Could be a price drop trying to clear stock too.
Gah! That's a huge drop.. I got my Asus 7850 2GB for $256 less than 2 months ago. Seeing as how I just built my system, would running the 7850 in crossfire be a worthwhile upgrade for this price? I'm only playing GW2, Blacklight: Retribution on rare occasions, and planetside 2 in the future.
Got the power supply and extra scratch? Then go for it! Guaranteed e-penis boost and a fun learning experience to boot. I vote yes- and send pics, or it didn't happen.
offloading all my random BS files to a home server was the best decision I ever made. Now, my gaming rig is a lean, mean, solid state monster! Seriously, upgrading the hard drive to ssd was the single biggest instant gratification mod I've ever done. Will never go back. Go for an ssd!
