Heya ! Before i joined XoO i was a part of a gaming community called NID "Nerds in Denial" and because i plan on playing GW2 (EU because NA servers will be a problem for me) i decided to join them in gw2. They are a part of a Alliance called the "FUBAR Alliance" which will have many top guilds from the EU participating, what i was hoping was that if XoO decides to make a EU devision would they be interested in applying to join the Fubar Alliance? http://www.pevepe.net/fubar - site http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fubar+alliance&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&ie=&oe=&redir_esc=&ei=9A0mUJHQOvOR0QX2pYGwCg google http://www.nidhq.org NID Gaming Community i would very much like to play with xoo in gw2 as would many eu players in this gaming community for for many of us playing on NA servers wont be a option.
One problem I see with making a division as part of an alliance on a different server is the conflict of interest between XoO and the servers alliance that will show up every time the servers are put against each other for WvW. Having one of the GW2 divisions listening in to the others TS channel to feed intel back to the other (for example, knowing where you, or your alliance, is planning to make a push, or what siege equipment blueprints you're carrying) is not a situation I want to see happen. So how bad has the lag been for EU players on US GW2 servers ?
But EU servers wont be going up against NA servers If you meant the alliance we will be all on same server
@Meemo - Right. EU servers are matched vs. EU servers, so there wouldn't be a conflict. However, the problem would be that our EU players would go play with the EU GW2 division and this would hurt us during the EU timezone. We want to have a strong EU timezone group for GW2 and I'd absolutely love it if you would join us on the US servers. Our EU and Oceanic players have told me that they were getting excellent pings during the last BWE.
Right. I did some looking around and was able to confirm this. Which removes the conflict of interest issue unless ANET puts them up against each other at a later date. I am one of those oceanic players. Apart from some lag issues today, which were caused by a problem that also hit GW1, I haven't had any lag problems since BWE1. Nor has anyone else I've talked to, even during the stress tests timed for EU players.
i think its possible to make a char on Na and EU servers at the same time if so i will most definitely make one with xoO and see how it goes and then if its no good i wont have to buy another game
Which is why we play on an East Coast server when at all possible, it is closest to the middle of the EU players and west coast US players so everyone is "happy". Ping really isnt that bad with how fast internet is available now days to the majority of players.
Right. However, whenever you transfer characters between servers, you transfer all of them. So if you played on the US server with XoO and then decided you wanted to go to an EU server, you'd have to pay for a server transfer, but all of your characters would go with you with all of their progress and items.
IF (and I stress IF) there are truly no ping issues or lag issues, then forming a separate EU division is counterproductive to our intentions in GW2. If your intent is to have TERA EU members play separately from XoO Proper, then just come out and say it so we can talk about why you wish to do this. Please do not go down the road of another division and play the same games as Xen does, only with your buddies from your division in your own clique. It's bad for business!!!
Having a strong presence during the late EU hours on a NA server is going to be extremely important to protect ourselves against late night raids when a lot of us are asleep in WvW. During a few beta weekends, EU/Oceanic Guilds have stolen Stonemist simply cause it was undefended during those hours. (Pretty much the most important keep) Our goal is to own WvW with our alliance at all times. This includes EU and Oceanic times, so, as Vangelis said, it is counterproductive to split the division based on timezone. Especially if they are not experiencing lag.
