"By the time everyone else gets there," says Ayson, "the New Zealanders will have drunk all the beer." that's a fact!
This is a opinion not a factual statement, do your research; there was more to it than just oh u cant come into port. On a side note, thats awesome for them, what a blessing.
The policy was introduced in NZ to keep Nuclear powered ships out of harbor. Since the US doesn't disclose which ships are nuclear, NZ doesn't allow any US ship in harbor. Therefore the US does the same with NZ ships. Petty on the US side but understandable I guess.
It was more of a joke than anything else. As I understand things, the facts are: - This is the first time NZ is taking part in Rimpac. If you want to take this seriously, that fact is the most important one. - Pearl Harbor isn't big enough for all the Rimpac participants, so someone had to be sent to the commercial docks. - NZs nuclear free policy has caused friction between NZ and the US before. So it's always the first thing blamed when more friction shows up, not that either countries politics will allow them to back down. I don't really know why NZ ships are the ones that weren't allowed into Pearl Harbor. I don't see why it matters. Are there any other important facts that I'm missing ?
