On April 4, 2012, your account type will change from standard to Truly Free™ in preparation for the launch of Aion: Ascension on April 11th, 2012. All current, future or recurring billing will be eliminated on April 4! Also, as part of going Truly Free, formerly inactive accounts that are in good standing will be activated at this same time. We welcome everyone back to gear up and get ready for the launch of Aion: Ascension! Any remaining game time on your account will be converted into NCoin™ at a rate of 40 NCoin per remaining day for which you had already paid. Please note that this conversion may take a couple of days to fully process on all accounts. Additionally, that NCoin can be used immediately! The Black Cloud Marketplace ™ will open for business on April 4th as well! Our pre-order program allows you to purchase items immediately to be delivered to your character on April 11th when Aion: Ascension launches! Are there free and paid (monthly) accounts? What's the catch on the free account? What does the cash shop sell? Can players "buy power"? Also, is there room in the legion for someone that might play once a week? =P If not, that's fine. Thanks!
i cant see anywhere to sign up for a paid account, and they havent closed off any of the game features for the free accounts. they might have a limit on how many characters that new accounts can create. ie. max 2 chars per account instead of 8. as far as i can tell the cash shop is mainly selling bling, like skins for apearance on clothes and weapons, dyes and dances and different emotes. so it looks like it wont be pay to win. and there is still room in the legion

Ranger is fun. I was able to kill people that out leveled me pretty easily. Hmm, I might have to check this out.
So to be clear: people still have to purchase Aion, but have the option of playing until 60 for free?
To all who are asking about having to buy the game: the answer is no. Just create an account on NCSOFT.com and you can download the game entirely free. There is no limit on anything in game and you can create up to 8 characters as you were able to when you used to pay. There isn't anything set up like EU where you could opt to pay a monthly fee to have a few more privileges, just download and play! Hope to see more people with us (even if it's just to hold you off til the other games come out). ~Cylar

I read somewhere about a time frame. Will players be able to access the game once it hits 12AM EST April 11th, 2012. As in tonight, or do we have to wait for it to be 12AM PST April 11th, 2012? I couldn't find the source, so I'd thought I would ask here.
