Awhile ago, my headphones started acting up. For the most part the left headphone is dead; like the wiring to it has gone out because it sometimes works. Anyways, I'm getting a little annoyed with headphones lately. Granted I've never owned any really nice ones. I'm posting this because I want some opinions on either a good set of headphones or a good set of speakers. I'm willing to spend about $150 or so. Also, if you are suggesting a set of speakers, I'd probably need some suggestions for a desktop mic. Thanks!
what all other then gaming do you do?? are you a heavy music listener or just mainly need them for games?? and I prefer desktops mic anyway for every headset i get my speakers or mic or both go out after 1-3 months and ive spent 50$ on one and right now i got a 20 desktop mic and it sounds better then all the headsets ive ever used. but if you go speaker route check out the creative systems they have pretty nice setups, headphones though i need more of what you do with them to give you a better detail of what you want and aslo what style you prefer
Headsets all the way. Ive played with both and I have to say that Headsets add to the depth of the game. In CoD4 they are essential to find out where the enemy is. If you had a real nice surround sound that might work too. But I find that an expensive head set will last a long time if you treat it right. Ive had mine for about a year now and it was only around $80.
Not unless he uses a cheap set of earphones or headphones. That's what I'm doing now. I have speakers connected for when I'm listening to music, but when I'm gaming and on vent, I put in my Zune earphones (or the noise-canceling ones that came with my laptop) and talk through my desktop mic.
He said speakers...not headphones. L2Read Logitech for any headset/accessory. If you don't buy logitech, you fail.
The logitech ones I've bought always end up having some sort of failure... Anyways, I will be using my computer for music more than gaming. Between work, school and other commitments I only have time for a couple CoD matches on any day.
For headphones, I have been using Shure E4c's. The model just below it on the list is the E3c's, and are available on Amazon for $120. They are in-ear headphones. They take some time to get used to, but sound great and physically block a lot of sound because of the way they are in your ear. They are also small--only slightly larger than your standard ear-buds, so I take them with me for my laptop and ipod on the go. If you are looking for the big over the ears type headsets, Audio-Technica and Sennheiser are two of my favorites. Definitely try before you buy... for a lot of the headsets in the $100-150-200+ ranges, a lot of the difference is going to be preference rather than differences in quality. Also, don't buy based on noise-cancelling ability. They rarely work well, are marked up by a good amount, and you are nearly always better off buying headphones with a better fit to physically block out more sound. For games, then just use a desktop mic. This way you only need to buy good headphones once, instead of buying one set without a mic and one set with a mic.
well only for headset/accessories. They dont break when you dont e rage and throw them against the wall. hahah. speakers, buy BOSE.
i used to have a pair of Cyber Snipa 5.1 surround sound headset with a mic and they were fucking AWESOME best headset i have ever had, only thing was the mic was dmged during the shipment still i didnt care i just hooked up another headsset for the mic, my neck hurt every day but the sound quality was still worth it. sent them back and they stoped carring them they ran about $50 - $60 for a pair if you find a pair plz for the love of god send me a pm with the link to the sight cause i really really really really ill kill someone want another pair i loved them
media with gaming on a side note i would go headphones desktop mic and for Headphones = Cans - Sennheiser, Denon, Grado, AKG + In-ear - Shure, Etymotic + Others - Koss, Sony + Speakers - Creative, Bose Desktop mics are fun since it really depends on how good of one you want since they last a good amount of time wether you go cheap or expensive it realy just depends on how much you want to spend after headphones(i went cheap and the mic is a year old and still works perfectly fine)
Don't buy Bose! They are marketed as high-end sound equipment, but in reality, Bose uses subpar parts and are greatly overmarked for their sound quality. They tune the speakers to be heavy on highs and lows so on initial listening you think they sound great and buy. It is not until you inspect them closer and compare with similar models from other manufacturers do you realize how inaccurate the speakers are. Bose relies on heavy marketing, not speaker quality, in order to sell their products to the masses. Don't fall for the trap.
you obviously have never owned a high end set of bose speakers. and by high end I mean 1,100 or more without a sub. And please dont reply with "Yes I have" jsut to try and prove a point Or a good pair of bose headphones for that matter. and what Klock said, Sennheiser OWN!!!! I used to have a cheaper $100 headphones with mic, and they were by far the best headset mic combo I have ever owned. Plus it came with like a million foot long cord. The cord was actually so long that I taped over half of it up.
Fixed that for you. (And by that, I deleted Bose from what you said.) Let me put it this way: One of my good friends purchased a Bose setup for around $2,000 to match his new HDTV a few years back. He thought the speakers sounded great. I challenged him to demo some of B&W's equipment for a week. He loved them, and ended up buying the setup (2 B&W bookshelf speakers + a Rotel stereo amp). He got them for about $1750, and sold the Bose setup on ebay. I've never had the displeasure of Bose headphones. If I'm going to get cans, I'd rather stick with Grado, Seinheisser, or Audio-Technica.

I'm fairly well aware of Bose being more brand than substance now. Fortunately, I just got a bonus from work so I'm probably going to buy a set of headphones for gaming, and speakers for music. Yay for bonuses!
I want to use headphones but they've never been comfotable on me so I use $50 speakers and get by with that. Someday I'll get headphones, maybe when CoD: World at War comes about and I get more serious about gaming again. As long as I continue to be a top player in BF2142 I have no problem, though.
