I want to get one. My issue is that I hear people say they suck also others say its the next sliced bread. Then when I do research and ask around I get told some logitech *numbers and letters model* is the best and I have people telling me the best gamepad is to get a wired Xbox controller.

What does XoO think? Which one is the best/easiest to handle?

Xbox controller is your "safest" bet, imo.

I personally like my Alienware the best, but havent used the XBox 360 Windows controller. The Alienware has worked better than my logitech and some other company thats big but cant remember the name of.
Unfortunately I dont think you can buy the Alienware controllers anymore.

For an actual 360 controller that Razer Onza Tournament Edition is my favorite. I got it on sale for $30. Outlasted all my other official 360 controllers.

I use a wired Xbox controller and it's pretty darn amazing. Most games these days will auto-recognize the controller as an Xbox controller and will adjust the game accordingly (for example, it'll say "press A to start" instead of "hit enter to start") and will have all the buttons configured for you. No drivers or anything needed, just plug and play. Windows already has the drivers for it.

    This.

I also use the 360 controller if I desire to play a game with a gamepad. The controller is used by thousands and thousands of people so it works. When the first xbox came out all the other controllers were fucking awful. The controller S was a home run and they stuck with its basic design for the 360 so you can't go wrong.

If you can get Xbox controller that'd probly be best but if your lookin for a cheap but still effective controller you can pick up http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/controllers/devices/7360

It's pretty standard, nothing fancy but it works great and is easy to get used to. Ever since I started using a controller for certain games its been way better. Stuff like racing games and even single player RPGs like Kingdoms of Amalur and whatnot are just more enjoyable with a controller.

Plus just easier on your hands. When you game as much as us crazy gamers do a rest from the standard WASD position is quite welcomed. I pretty much save the keyboard gaming to FPS and MMO's.

What do you want to use it for?

I'm using a logitech G13 for Tera and I loved it... combined with my Naga mouse, it made the keyboard unnecessary.

I intend to use it for Tera and GW2. I believe that a gamepad will help with the mobility issues on the Lancer. The fighting style is extremely similar to Monster Hunter on PsP which has great controllerbility *not even a word but u get it*

Same as a wireless mouse. Just adds a few ms of additional lag. Depending on how Microsoft set up its power saving algorithm you may have an additional 5ms or so of lag time if you havent pressed a button in a while due to the transmitter going to sleep. Same as a wireless mouse works

I use a wired Xbox 360 controller, it recognizes most games, but for those it doesn't you can use Pinnacle Game Profiler for anything else. Pinnacle is actually pretty awesome, and I would argue that you can actually do some things much faster using it than the typical keyboard+mouse setup...but that's just my opinon ;)

I am probably the only serious (or was) Guild Wars PvPer who plays with a gamepad. Sometimes I feel like some special kind of Olympian. :D

I'll put in another vote for the Xbox360 Controller for Windows. It's a hell of a lot better than I would have thought. I use it to play The Witcher 2 and it's incredible.
