Looking for some quality speakers and a headset. They don't have to be the best. Just something affordable and good. Preferably between $0-200. I tried some Triton AX 720's and they sucked so I returned them.
I have three of these, my girlfriend and I both love them. A co worker also has two, he loves em. I intend on getting these when they come out.
These are some of the best, but they have a high amount of clamping force. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PC...FDWO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329112469&sr=8-1 I leave them set around my external DVD drive to keep them sort of stretched while not in use so that way it always has less clamping force. The first couple weeks were hard with them, and I tended to get headaches after a few straight hours of use, but now I dont mind them at all and dont get headaches from the clamping force. They sound REALLY nice once broken in and if you mod them slightly. They sound good just as they are, but you can look up the "Hero Mod" and if you do that (very easy and takes little time) you can get significantly more bass and a much warmer sound. The mic is also the best I have used in all my headsets. Build quality on the whole thing is nice too. As with all good headphones, when you first get them to after a couple hundred hours the sound will change. I came from some much better headphones and did not at all like the sound of this headset at first, but after breaking them in the sound opened up quite a bit and the details started to come out in the audio. If you want to get something REALLY cheap and is the best in its price range by far, then look into these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10823&cs_id=1082302&p_id=6893&seq=1&format=2
Diggin' the Razer Carcharias 100% thus far: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169415800/categoryId.35096300 Uber comfortable, great stereo, great mic, long cord, quality components, hassle free packaging, etc etc, need I say more? Razer also produces the Tiamat 7.1 and Tiamat 2.2 if you're interested in those.
A40's http://www.astrogaming.com/headsets/a40-headsets/a40-headset-astro-edition If your mic breaks, or anything, you can buy just the mic again for $20. Also it is detachable and able to be put on whichever side you choose. Has interchangable cords to be used as just headphones etc. /thread
He's very correct. These are very good. I have used astros before. I like the Logitech headset and the Razor ones work nicely, as well. I currently own the CM Storm Sirus. Its good-ish. Its bass heavy and takes a lot of EQ, and it weighs about a billion pounds for lengthy gaming. After using for a while, I dont recommend them to anyone else. I have used the Corsair jobs, as well. F'ing spectacular. Very clear. Very loud, very surround and reasonably priced. Buy the Corsair's to get a good all around performer. But consider the astros, too. The newest batch look just too good to not consider. As for speakers: For gaming and stuff, I've found the top end logitech jobs to be about the best. Compact and excellent sound quality. The 5.1 blows your budget by a longshot, but is worth it. The top of the line 2.1 should do you fine is surround is not necessary. Also, Bose makes a fantastic line of computer speakers that you should consider.
Kyoji - If you want a great sound system for multiple devices I would suggest this: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakers/devices/speaker-system-Z906 I have the older Z-5500's and love them. It only has one optical port on the media hub so I have to change them out when I switch between cable/ps3 for movies. I would like to get digital output on my PC mobo so I can use Dolby Digital in games/music rather than the "virtual" Dolby that my PC uses now. My speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-THX-Certified-Digital-Surround-Speaker/dp/B0002WPSBC
Hype is correct. Those z5500 are the truth. I own them, and they are phenomenal for small to mid-sized rooms. I can't imagine the new version is any less spectacular. But they do blow your budget, and that's why I mention the 2.1 channel version instead. Ps - kyoji, pop over to the fps channel any time you see me on and I'm happy to bs about sound equipment anytime. Actually, that goes for anyone. Sound and audio electronics are something of a passion of mine, if you haven't noticed on several other threads!
Used z5500's can be had relatively cheap. I got lucky and got some for $150 They are great for a smaller room, certainly on a budget of $200-$300 which they retailed for quite regularily. Any more then that and your gettig into receiver and speakers packages.
I use a pair of Sennheiser PC 360's that I got for $160 in November last year, they are the best pair of headsets that I have ever owned but right now it looks like Amazon has them for $220. If the price drops agian though or if you can find them for around $160 then I highly recommend you pick up a pair: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DA4D2U/ as for a mouse I recommend you stay away from Razer products, they look attractive and shiny which may be tempting but they arent very durable. I owned a Razer Mamba and it didnt even lasts me 2 years (and I paid like $100 for it at the time). The sticky grips on the sides fell off, the mouse started randomly double and triple clicking when I clicked once, and the mouse pointer would randomly jump on its own. I tried to get it replaced by Razer but they asked for my original sales receipt which I didnt keep and I had to return it in the original plastic packing which I didnt have anymore. If I were you I would get a Logitech G700 instead, they go for around $75 and it has a good amount of buttons that you can keybind. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Mouse-G700/dp/B003VAM32E/
Wow nice deal you got on those! The PC360 addresses the issues the PC350 has, however you can fix those issues with the "Hero mod" I mentioned. But it is better to just have the nicer headset from the start. They really are great headsets.
Sennheiser makes a solid product. Extremely trusted brand of headphones/mics in the recording industry. I have no reason to expect they would be any less spectacular for gaming.
