I came home yesterday to my apartment complex, dropping by the maintenance building where my grill is kept as we cannot due to fire code keep our grills on our porches, and discover, my grill has been stolen.

It was a Weber Baby Q grill, complete with cover, stand, 15lb FULL propane tank, and all the rest of my grilling gear. I FREAKING BOUGHT IT WITH MY GRADUATION MONEY FROM GOD DAMN COLLEGE!!!!

I have spoken with maintenance and the property manager and they are "looking into it" but I dunno, should I file a police report and should I expect that I'm going to get any compensation from being robbed? or even get my grill back?

    I miss my grill...

I thought you meant someone stole your teeth. That would have been an interesting read.

Anyhow, yeah file a police report. Even the presence of police can make people do things like put it back, especially if it was someone who works there.

KM, that is lame. Those thieves are really put it to where it hurts a man, taking his BBQ setup. Sure you can file a police report, but without serial numbers or some unique identifying marks, and considering it's a common item, I want to let you know you're probably SOL. I say that with the utmost sympathy -- I'm convinced BBQ was man's second invention, right after singing and drumming.

It has my name/address/phone number written on the lid and gas tank with a sharpie. As for serial number... I may have something with that but I don't know. I'm just hoping if I do have to end up replacing it they'll comp me a SAFE place to keep the new one.

Update: Property Manager called, says the maintenance guys didn't know what it was and threw it out, they will buy me a new grill. I gotta say, it's nice that they owned up to it and all ^_^.

    didn't
    know
    what
    a
    barbecue
    is?

This just resonates about like 2+2=17 in my mind.

Along with a lock you should probably put a sign up. Remember that stupidly obvious signs are usually made because humans continue to push the boundaries of stupidity.
