I don't think it was even white. It was some kind of gray that was irreproducible from the pulldown color menu.

    This is fact.

I knew from copy-pasting from other forums, the text was pure white and looked odd from the other forum text.

Thogun it really depends on the person on if they dislike or like light backgrounds. I personally find light backgrounds harder on the eyes then dark as long as the dark theme uses proper colors for text to avoid drastic contrasts.

EF2 :) we can def get some good smilies packs but like I say we want to wait till we have a color skin so we know if it's dark or light.

Kyoji is working is butt off on a skin for us as I type.

Once we have something up, we can look into some "skin contests" or something to add some options to let people pick from a few different ones maybe.

I'd really like to see less sub forums. Each game gets 2-3. Recruitment, general bullshit, misc. Then maybe 1 or 2 general member forums. 3 if the others are really that cluttered. This will force members to interact more and create our identity as whole instead of smaller groups that mostly keep to themselves. Such things will be the death of us unless we work to stop them.

Agree, there were so many sub forums around before, and less than a third of them actually got posted in regularly. I do like the idea of a more common ground focus, where each member comes to post outside of their game forums.

It was months before I posted outside of my game's forums. Hell, I didn't even know the common ground existed until quite a while in. I whole heatedly stand with those who want to make it something like this:
    Emphasis mine.

I'm tired of this amber on gray bullshit. Variety, that is the key.

The old layout gave me a headache.

The taskforce people are putting together a bunch of different ideas and everyone will get to see them later. It's confusing.

I'm with you. I find it harder to read text like it is now compared to what we had before.

I also would prefer our forum list not grouped into sub forums not visible on the main page as little as possible. If someone has to click and click to get to the one forum he desires, he is less likely to contribute to another if he must repeat the formula every time he wishes to pos.

How about some nice spring pastels? Or maybe even some earthy autumn colors? I have to say though I'm leaning pretty heavy toward Communist rainbow suggestion.

Keep in mind that skinning a forum takes a lot of work. Listening to the task force last night I don't think they all may realize just how much work it is to skin it more then just a color change.
The skins Isurus worked on took weeks to months to get things like graphics menus and such.

I can skin a forum color wise in about an hour or so if I know what colors we want where, but if we also want it to have facny graphic buttons and drop down menus and to move things around then that takes a lot more work.

My goal right now is to get us OFF the default colors asap... then we can work on something more fancy, then we can look into mayby a dark and a light theme, or even a few of them ;)

pfft, I can do it all in less than a week. adding the addons and hacks would take longer of course. I know how much work it takes, but when you dedicate 8 hours a day to working on it then it doesn't take that long. =P

I finished the basic design on my forum design a bit ago, so its comes with bg,banner and colors. Images for buttons will have to be done later on today or tomorrow.

Er... if you have experience at web development, after a week full-time I'd really hope you could do it all!

I liked the country selector that put your flag under your avatar. I know this Isn't really that important but still I liked it.
