It hasn't even rained yet where I live. It's supposed to reach Canada on Monday morning. While I don't live directly in the path of the hurricane, I'm expecting some type of wind or rain at least.
We're supposed to get some wind from it in southern Ontario. I don't know where you live but if it's in between you will probably get something.
Well, nothing crazy happening so far Hopefully stays that way. Although my street got hit by a tornado two years ago and totally destroyed one of the houses. Damaged our roof a bit too. Here's a photo of the destroyed house down the street: And here's a video of the tornado in question: But we were considered lucky compared to another neighbourhood in Vaughan, which was totally destroyed:
i just got power back about 20 minutes ago ... been out since 2 am ... got foot and half or 2 foot of water around my house and in basement of my house around the water lame
Where I live, we get a cylone pretty much once or twice a year - 90% of the time it fizzles out. When it hits, it hits hard. Usually there is quite a bit of flooding and a few trees down that need to be cleared. Tinned food and bottles water are important and as soon as the watches start - there is mass hysteria at the shops to get all the last minute supplies that you should have stock piled weeks ago "just in case". Petrol generators are great if you need to keep medical supplies or other perishales - so as long as its not flooded, the fridge can work - Little bar fridges on bench tops FTW I hope no one was hurt too badly and that the community help each other out to fix damamges etc. stay safe and dont do anything stupid. For people who live in natrual disaster areas - stay prepared. Saves you having to beat off old ladies at the supermarket for that last tin of beans or packet of matches... its like a gauntlet (which in its own way is fun) but the extra stress is not needed.
That was great, funny how many people didn't care about the storm. There is another Hurricane making it's way to the upper East Coast and a Tropical Storm in on the Gulf. Not sure if the Hurricane will hit land or if it will pass by on water. Check them out on the Hurricane Tracker here.
I live on the Jersey shore, we had no power for a few days and a few fallen trees took out some cars. No injuries and no deaths, I call it a win. Also that "earthquake" shook my desk and my monitor, not much else. Thought I was drunk for a second.
