WoW. Just Wow. Phone hacking whistle-blower found dead.

If you're not aware, a man named Sean Hoare recently brought to light an incredible fact... a popular UK newspaper hacking into cell phones to get the scoop. That newspaper happened to be part of Rupert Murdoch's news empire. Lots of powerful people are being arrested over it, and the newspaper even closed shop.

Now the guy is found dead. The thing that bothers me is this:

Are you kidding me? Just who are they trying to fool here. This kinda reminds me of how 9/11 never had to be investigated because it was "obvious" who did it.

I was following this quite closely. Its not too much of a surprise in many senses. Although as you have stated, we all know who is responsible and this is more of a retribution act. Though you cannot really promote that kind of behaviour to the public, thus why they try and keep it all hush hush.

At the end of the day it comes down to the bourgeois having more power (in the white collar crime sense) than the proletariats. They do these things because they can and they have a good chance of getting away with it. Though this was perhaps over their head.

Also, In case you are presently unaware LuLzsec raided several different newspapers websites last night (00.00GMT - 19/7/2011), specifically The Sun to see if they could find any other news companies doing similar offences. It was fucking funny, I was on IRC with them, thought nothing was uncovered, which is good.

erm last I looked the hacking was only done to celebs and politicians/ some other Gov people. I dont like when they use EVERYONE being hacked when in fact they where only MAINLY targeting celebs and targets selected people in gov

 

Not only.

They hacked a dead kidnapped teen's cellphone, listened to the voicemail and deleted them after, thus hindering the police investigation. That was just one known case, out of who knows how many.

 

Really dude ... you take it here? Tin hat and all ? How about just sticking to the story about the phones and paper and dead dude ?

But back to the story at hand ... if they did delete emails/voicemails that hindered a kidnapping case, that is indeed diabolical

Fair point, I just hadn't though it hadn't crossed that boundary. It was only a comparison.

Anyway, in regards to the original topic. During the hearing of what happened with the paper (I was watching it live) Rupert Murdoc was hit with a foam pie and his wife smacked the dude that did it.

I enjoy politics as it is, but this just put the icing ontop of the cake. Although keep in mind Murdoc is 80 years old.

eeh everything in this section is politics and religion, especially when a name like Rupert Murdoch is dropped.

Anyway, timing is suspicious, but it also doesn't seem to be a secret that the man was occasionally elbow deep in coke. The phrase "rock star breakfast" was thrown around once or twice. If more information is released about this I would be interested, but sometimes a cause of death like that is kept hush hush (assuming it is the cause).

 

It's also a convenient diversion from his actual cause of death.

It's possible that a guy who has been abusing drugs for a while just managed to OD a few weeks after revealing what NotW was up to. Possible, but implausible.

 

I've been following this on NPR every morning, and Twi - it was more than just Celebs, in fact - the Celeb part isn't the main focus of the current news about this.

 

yeah, i think I read that it was 3700 people, so not just a handful of celebs lol.

When you wake up to cocaine and whiskey, it isn't about simply screwing up and overdosing. Just dropping dead wouldn't be an unlikely occurrence. Sure it is convenient, but not as convenient as the timing of a death happening BEFORE the damage was done like before he testified. They probably should give more information as to the cause of death though because all people can do is speculate.

 

Apparently the number of names the police now have is somewhere over 4,000.... Even people like the kidnapped teen and (i hate to mention it) victims of 9/11 and 7/7 and their families. Its getting quite serious over here. The media, especially the murdoch empire hold waaaay too much power in the politics and government over here its rediculous. The head of police has also resigned - possibly due to the police handing over details of cases etc for cash...
