http://www.examiner.com/girl-gamer-in-boston/nintendo-belongs-the-toy-aisle She calls her self a girl gamer... and yet she states that the Wii is going to have problems competing with the PS4, which doesn't exist. I saw the "PlayStation 4" and couldn't read much more after that, the flame post are pretty funny.
I stopped trying to figure out why people are retarded. But on another note "Duck Hunt" was fun, and the Super Scope was so awesome.
Nintendo has the most iconic games of all time. There is no other game that can compare to the fame of Mario. Zelda was amazing. Goldeneye was probably one of the top 3 best games I have ever played. Perfect Dark was fun as hell. Mario Cart was comparable to Jesus driving. The Wii definitely is more family oriented of gaming, but I still love many of their titles. Nintendo has been the single most revolutionary console development group in the market spanning many years. They are the reason there is even a Sony and XBOX. I lol'ed at this as last I checked PS3 and Xbox both were pushing out hardware to allow for movement control that people laughed at with the Wii. Nintendo isn't any better or worse than PS3 or Xbox. It's preference. I like Halo, but I also like Super Mario. If I wanted super uber graphics I would play my computer that cost me over $3,000.
Nintendo has found a market that gets far more customers than Sony's market. They're also better at keeping them lately. I bet they're easier to please than the angry 'real gamers' who refuse to acknowledge the Wii as a gaming console, too.
Nintendo sold a shit ton of Wii(s?) but if they hadn't been making money on each console their wouldn't be a Nintendo console manufacturer right now because the people that buy the Wii don't buy alot of games. And game royalties is where the real money is not the hardware. That's why the Wii U is coming so soon because the Wii has flatlined as far as profit goes and they got no choice but to try and recapture the "real" gamers that buy games every month. The movement controls on the other consoles was an attempt to get some of that casual game player to buy hardware not software those consoles are now making profit by themselves and so they can now afford to sell to people that are only ever going to buy 1 or 2 games over the lifespan of the console and because they all ready have the "real" gamers buying software every month. I would imagine that Nintendo is now going to stick with a middle cycle release for their consoles. It really is a good plan 3-4 years in to the console life spans quite a few people start wanting a new console these tend to be the people that buy a lot of software as well so it's a good plan on Nintendo's part it could backfire if the Wii u isn't sufficiently more powerful but if it works it could make them a lot of money.
Still wish I there were more good games for the Wii. I grabbed smash bros, twilight princess, Mario kart and after that... One or two other titles not important enough to really remember off the top of my head. I want to smack whoever it is at their board meetings saying things like "so it is time for another tennis/golf/sports title right?" I love Nintendo, but let's face it here, we aren're talking about an awesome game library for the Wii like we would be years back with the SNES and even the N64.
To be completely fair to the girl, she did identify herself as a girl gamer instead of a gamer. I personally make a similar distinction between girls and women in terms of maturity, and I find that it makes sense here as well. She started off identifying herself as a more childlike archetype of a subset of gamers and in that post lived up to it completely. I've known many a gamer (that happens to be female) as well as an unfortunate amount of girl gamers, she certainly self identified properly at least.
Maybe she was referring to this: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388110,00.asp Just saw it myself today, having no idea if the PS4 launch is actually close by.
I say PS4 announcement E3 next year and launch either 3 or 4 months before E3 the following year or holidays of that year. X-box probably E3 announcement next year release for holidays next year. That's if there is another Microsoft console their stock holders have been pushing for them to get out of the hardware business for a few years now.
Sony has released a console every 5/6 years, this would put us in for a 2011-2012 release date. Personally I haven't seen any real hard proof of it existing or being planed in the slightest other then the standard release cycle that has happened. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we saw it on shelf's holiday 2012 but as of right now having no official statement from Sony(that i have found/saw) I will still make fun of her for being closed minded and not realizing what Nintendos probable business ideas might be. I herd nothing about a PS4 from E3 news cast, it would be EXTREMELY WEIRD if they released it without doing anything at E3.
I have read an article yesterday at work on engadget about the PS4. Something about a company in china making parts for it. I'll try to find the link. ***EDIT*** Found http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/05/ps4-production-to-begin-later-this-year/
No one cares that the CEO of Sony has said there are no plans at all to release the PS4 anytime soon and that the PS3 will have a lot more life squeezed out of it? He said it last year, earlier this year, and again at E3 just last month So we probably wont see a POS4 until 2013 Oops, I meant PS4
Microsoft has never made a habit of doing what the stock-holders tell them to... in this case I'm not even sure what they're thinking, since the X-Box has been turning billion-dollar profits for the last year or two (finally). I'm not seeing an end in sight, either.
