The characters look like modded Final Fantasy sprites. >_> EDIT: In fact the more I look at them the more certain I am that they are.
Been following this game for a few weeks now. Looking fantastic. I really like how it's shaping up and how much they are taking from the playerbase re: Ideas. Also way more polished than minecraft.
you do know this game alot easier to do/make then mine craft right but anywho i dont think ill play this game since from what I can se u cant change much like in minecraft
Yes and this game has a team of actual developers. Not one dude making millions while refusing to hire an actual team of more than 3.
I gotta admit, this looks really good. Any idea when its likely to be released? I will be picking this up.

Some of the updates and features to get you interested. - *Every item has mouseover stats and descriptions. *Crafting simply examines the items you're holding and any nearby workbenches, then gives you a list of all the items you can build at that time. *Building a 'back' wall in a building takes a lot of materials, but it prevents monster spawning. *Because blocks are so small, you'll use a lot more for even simple structures. However, this is balanced out. For instance, trees can yield dozens of logs and don't take long to chop (the whole tree comes down when destroyed) and each log turns into 4 walls, so the rate of return is much higher. *Furniture is already in. *Various characters will 'move in' to your world when conditions have been met, and you can choose where to organize them, shelter them, house them, etc. Merchants are one of the first to move in, and will arrive after some brief adventuring has netted you a required amount of coins, and you have a suitable walled off area to move him into. *Zombies (and probably other mobs) will pound on your doors all night trying to get in. *The moon has phases. *When there's a Blood Moon, Zombies will actually be able to breach walls and kick in doors after enough time. Zombie siege! *Slimes drop gel which is used to make torches. *PvP can be turned on and off at will. It also includes color-coded teams. *Water behaves realistically, flowing and draining. *By default, you sink (and drown, after a time) in water, but later on you can make artifacts that will allow you to swim, breathe underwater, etc. *Antique pots spawn with the world and contain money when smashed. *Mushrooms spawn with the world and can be eaten for quick health at low levels. *Dying consequences aren't yet determined, but the most likely path they'll go with is losing money when you die. *Mobs all seem to have different variations *There's rocket boots, bombs, and guns. *The game has been in development since January. *There are three separate world sizes ranging from 84x32 screen lengths to 168x64. *There will be updates after the game is launched. *Soon there will be a wiki of information. From the in-game guide's "help": *"Once you have a wooden sword, you might try to gather some gel from slimes. Combine wood and gel to make a torch!" *"Underground there are crystal hearts that can be used to increase your max life. You will need a hammer to harvest them." *"Stars fall all over the world at night. They can be used for all sorts of useful things. If you see one, be sure to grab it because they disappear after sunrise." *"If you gather 10 fallen stars, they can be combined to create an item that will increase your magic capacity." *"There are many different ways to attract people to move into your town. They will of course need a home to live in." *"Two people will not live in the same home. Also, if their home is destroyed, they will look for a new place to live." *"In order for a room to be considered a home, it needs to have a chair, door, table, and light source. The house should have walls as well!" *"If you want a merchant to move in, you will need to gather plenty of money. 50 silver coins should do the trick!" *"For a nurse to move in, you will need to increase your maximum life." *"If you had a gun, I bet an arms dealer might show up to sell you some ammo." *"You should prove yourself by defeating a strong monster. That will get the attention of a dryad." *"You can make a grappling hook from a hook and 3 chains. They can be made from iron bars. Skeletons found deep underground usually carry hooks."
Interesting. I'll definitely check this out, but minecraft holds a special place in my heart the size of a block.
To me the feature list and video looks like wannabe Minecraft + adventure RPG like Metroid series. Being dumbed down in both categories. Still looks fun though
I would much rather play this than Minecraft. For the simple fact that enemies are competent, they lay siege to your town and there are boss'. Granted Minecraft could add such things but it seems the devs are more interested in giving people wolf pets and adding different types of trees.
and yet there addons and mods u can add if u want more stuff that they might not offer. As with game you cant make any changes at all to better suit ur needs
Interesting look at this. I am not sure if this will compare to the experience I had with MC but it may come close.
dont know and dont care and it most likely be in a mod tho. Where mobs will attack player built stuff if players are in the area with them. As before all this stuff preset nothing u can do, where minecraft u can change the game play to almost anything you want only reason i dont like this new game and wont be playing it bc there isnt huge freedom in the game really and also i dont like the gameboy/ dig-dug look
Truth being there isn't a mod that adds such functionality. Notch has been asked multiple times about such a thing and he has said that it is a planned patch, on nights when the moon glows red zombies will lie siege to your town. However it has not been implemented, like said he's more interested in adding new types of trees. Adding new types of trees is cool and all but there are a number of other things that should be higher up on the priority list than something that makes almost no difference what so ever. I understand that the game is in beta, however isn't major things like gameplay usually done at that point? I guess it makes sense that he labeled it as an expansion however I'm not willing to wait that long for an actual gameplay mechanic. I don't want to just build things endlessly for no apparent reason. I want to build things that have a purpose be it keeping out zombies or killing other players... something a reason for me to build things. None of such exists in Minecraft at this time everyone builds things just to build things. Then they show off the things they've build to each other. I'm sorry but I don't view that as a gameplay mechanic I view it as legos with a friend. And to boot he said it would be an expansion, usually expansions you pay for again. They aren't free so... I'll pass. This game has those features already at no additional cost and has a gameplay mechanic. Source: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Zombie_Siege
