Thought I'd do everyone the favor of finding out the chick that plays Daenerys Targaryen aka Emilia Clarke is like 23-24.. so yeah.. you get it.
Yeah I actually stopped after the second one because I was reading them too fast and would have had to wait 5+ years. I picked up Wheel of Time for now
Isn't 18 the magical age anyway and the show wouldn't be on american television in the manner that it is unless she was?
I think what Kava meant was for us not to feel bad if we have strange feelings toward her even though she is supposed to be 13 in the books. But every characters got bumped a few years for the show, you know with all the sex and gore you can't have a bunch of 13-15 all over the place I believe George RR Martin mentioned the new Daenerys is 16. Here's a very interesting interview regarding the age of the new characters for the HBO adaptation. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11107/1139440-67-0.stm?cmpid=radiotv.xml The article mentions how they aged some characters, like Jon and Robb to what our society would expect out of young adults doing what they did in the books. I believe they are supposed to be 18 or so now, but some characters like Sansa and Arya are still very close... at 13/14 years old instead of 11 and 9. Even Ned Stark is like 35 in the book, but appears to be 50. I think it makes sense, I mean there was no such thing as adolescent in medieval times... at 11-12 you had a job or you were an apprentice. The aging effect is really just to meet the standards of our current society but the character's achievements are still the same. It might hurt some of the details in the long run, like Robb Stark being called the young wolf and achieving so much at such a young age... now it looks pretty standard for him at 18+ But it's for the best.
Pretty much this, the Daenerys scenes are pretty legit, they make her look younger than she is for the role so it's just comforting to know she's in her 20's, she's hot though, damn.
Just got through with the 4th episode last night! I'm really curious to see what is going to happen in the 5th episode now!! I'm liking the pacing of the episodes a lot but I wish they were 1.5 hours I want more Game of Thrones!!! I would also like to see a bit more time spent on Ned Stark in King's landing and how he is going to deal with Robert and his shit. I thought the scene with Jamie Lannister and Starks guard was really odd. I didn't expect him to even attempt a conversation with the guard let alone the tone of the one that was had.
So now we have the Lanisters trying to claim the throne, the Queen and her son who are also Lanisters but married into the "Stag" family wanting to take the throne, we have the Dothraki coming soon to start war for the throne, we have the backstabbing whatshisface doing who knows what, and we have the Stark's who are just trying to do the right thing and keep the peace. And lets no forget The Others who are returning. Too much crazy shit happening at once. Anyone want to speculate on what Littlefinger is going to do?
Yeah, it just keep getting better, I do find myself favoring certain story lines more than others. For example I can't get enough of Drago (berseker mode last few episodes) and super sexy Daenerys. Anything involving the Lannisters is also very entertaining.. but my god the whole plot about the bastard kid Snow is super boring for me atm. I'm really hoping they get him into some trouble with the creepy monsters asap because him and the fat kid chatting is lame. Super cool show though, especially the last few episodes been kickin it up a notch. EDIT: Probly shouldnt get into whats going to happen in future episodes because some people probly know from reading books.
My friend who read the books says the bastard kid and his dire wolf are bad ass motherfuckers by the end. So his story may be boring now, but I am hopeful for future episodes with him
Ya his side of the story will soon become the best part of the show... and for many seasons. Jon Snow is awesome
I really don't find any parts of the story all that boring. I realise Jon's story is a little disconnected but with winter coming and his uncle dead....maybe, I feel like things can only get more interesting for him. Right now I think they are just character building to give you a better sense of what he is like and what will shape him in the future. A man is the sum of his experiences. I'm really quite curious to see what is going to happen with jaime. That little speech with his father who wants to see him as more than a body guard for the king so what does that mean??? Hand? King? or just mature to become the head of the house. Obviously anyone that has read the books knows but I haven't started yet. I'll wait to start the first one until this season is done so I can get my fill in between seasons EDIT: It would also be interesting for them to go back before Robert was king and see the uprising and change in power.
Just another post to say WTF mate!!! Robb is really handling himself superbly at the head of the army of his fathers( ) allies. I don't want the final episode of the season to come but I know it is going to be spectacular. I hope they stick to a 1 book/season and we can get 5-7 years out of this series. There is a severe shortage of quality television right now. This, Chuck and reruns of Star Trek could hold me over for that long easily. The scene of the Sept of Baelor was easily one of the most powerful scenes I have seen on television in a long time. All men should hold the morals of Ned. The world would be a better place.
I hope Jaime gets executed now He's such a douche. Yet Jaimie probably wont cause he is too young to die just yet.
This is how the books are too. Each chapter starts with the name of who the chapter is about, when I get into a series of Daenerys/Jon/Arya I can't put the book down even if I wanted to, but then comes Sansa or Catelyn and I decide to take a break from reading.
