Anyone else excited by this HBO series? Any fans of the books? For anyone that do not know, the first episode is airing on the 17th of April. It's based on George RR Martin's books, it's a very gritty and dark fantasy story. Here's the synopsis. http://www.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/index.html
Yeah sadly with George RR Martin, you have a LOT of waiting to do. Over 5 years between the 3rd and 4th one. Fortunately for us, he has 2 books left (Considering A Dance with Dragons is coming out in July and is already printing) and the last ones are always faster to write, most authors know the ending before the beginning. Heck I read 6 books from the wheel of time series while waiting for the new one and countless other books and comics... can't believe it's been 6 years already.
Any comments on the show? I missed it tonight but have it on DVR so will be watching tomorrow night. I'm on the 3rd book right now but they've been pretty solid reads so far.
Same boat, it's on the dvr, however I read all the books so it will be interesting to see the difference between the two.
Great ending to the first episode. I thought the actress playing Catelyn would be prettier though per the book description.
It's sitting on my computer, waiting for a special time. And heck everyone keeps saying they want the 2nd Ep ASAP so I might wait until I get closer to next Sunday... makes waiting less of a pain
I would say try and go blissfully unaware for the season and then watch them all at once! But, I don't have that kind of willpower, so I am relegated to wanting for a whole week between episodes. I have never had the pleasure of reading the novels but I have heard many good things about them. The first episode was a pleasant surprise and while the pace was by no means fast it did not deter from watching the rest and looking forward to what will come. While I get the feeling there will be quite a bit going on in the seven kingdoms I don't feel that it will be difficult to keep straight as long as you are moderately intelligent. I just watched most of the videos on the HBO site and got a bit caught up on backstory for the different characters and houses. I also watched the trailer for the next episode coming Sunday and I cannot wait for it. This seems like a win in contrast to Camelot which I don't think will fare quite as well.
I had the willpower not to watch episode 1 yet, sadly I know once the 2nd one airs tonight I will watch both and then painfully wait a week for the next one to come out
Watched the first episode and it was crazy good. I know nothing of the books but I already can't wait to keep watching, second episode tonight ftw.
Episode 2 was just as awesome as the first one! The episodes are too short though! I demand 1.5 hours/episode instead of ~53min. I went and actually purchased the book yesterday and will start reading the series.
I hope you aren't disappointed when you get through the first 5 books and realize you have to wait 5 years for George to put the next one out. That'll be the only problem
Great show, great book series. I just hope the cost of show isnt so high that they cant continue, IE Rome. So far so good though. I agree about Catylen though. She is ass ugly in the show, and is supposed to be some kind of looker in the books. But other than that, I think they have done a great job early. Curious how they do a few things, but I also agree about George R.R. Martin. Enough already, get your ass back to a chair and write some book.
