memory wasn't supposed to be an issue with chrome (nor should it be a problem with my computer). Flash tended to not be very stable either iirc (at least it wasnt about a month and a half ago)...
Chrome crashes for me about once a month, it's always due to flash but it doesn't crash the browser and all you have to do is click the new tab button and the tab that crashed shows up on recently closed tabs so it's easy to open back up.
using chrome 9 atm and its blistering in speeds compared to IE and Firefox..... also the only crash i get is the same as arimil its just a minor flash hiccup and i usually can just refresh the page most of the time to fix it.
I think that's the main issue I had with Chrome, except mine was more than just the "rare" occurrence of flash crashing. I might give it another whirl the next few weeks.
I don't like Flash to begin with I think it is a bane to the internet. Thus I run the flashblock extension and only run Flash when I deem it necessary. May also be why chrome doesn't crash for me like you guys. I personally fully support HTML5 which makes flash no longer required for anything. The same things can now be achieved without jamming an external plugin into a website. HTML and Javascript can now accomplish anything that Flash could without requiring a native flash plugin (hello mobile devices). It's actually quite funny, I used to joke with my friends about making a game in HTML and we would laugh at each other about it. Here we are a few years later and it's not a joke anymore it's very possible and has already been done a few times. IE9 supports HTML5 which is the first time I've EVER seen Microsoft jump on with something new and be implementing it when it should be, especially with IE. Here's a good chart showing HTML5 and CSS3 compatibility. People that were bring up things certain browsers can/can't do before here's the real list. Aka this is the one that counts.
I use FF with No Script and AdBlock Plus. I use Opera when I want to open a site with flash or javascript, or when a site is badly rendered in FF. I use IE for those stupid Korean ActiveX-infested sites. I refuse to use Chrome because Google makes it. They crossed the line when they put those wi-fi receivers on their Google cars and recorded everything wherever they went, and duly archived those files.
That's a misconception Google doesn't make Chrome they just distribute it. You could go and start helping make Chrome better right now. http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved Chrome is open source and made by people like you and me. It's not made by any specific company but by the masses. Of course the page that I linked you to is called Chromium. That isn't necessarily Chrome. It's what comes before Chrome kinda like an alpha build. It's the one that is worked on and when deemed necessary Google pushes out a new release. So your reasoning of not using Chrome is invalid. Hell, if you hate Google go use Chromium it's the same browser but before Google gets involved at all. What it comes down to is Google saying "we like what your doing keep doing it" and supporting the Chromium developers.
Can anyone help me to get ad-block to work properly on chrome? I cant get it to get rid of the ads embedded in blip tv. I got it to work on Firefox but if I cant get it to work on Chrome ill have to switch back.
Adblock: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom Adblock Plus (yes the same exact one made by the same exact people that make the FF version): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb
