They just made a new game for it.

A few years ago a bunch of guys from the internet thought it'll be cool to make a little game for the community. It wasn't long before they realized the project will be something much bigger.

Watermelon studios was born, and this is the end result. I can't believe how much detail they put into box. I find it amazing that 15+ years after a console has died, a new game gets made for it.

Here's what the box looks like:

    And the actualy gameplay itself:

    Lol, I didn't notice that. :)

Also, I believe the game is $45 now including shipping. It was $35 over a year ago when I pre-ordered. Still worth it. The music is great and it's nice that it includes an audio CD which can also be used in conjunction with the game to produce hi-def sound.

[EDIT] Looks like the audio CD only came with the original print run, which is sold out. The re-print doesn't include the audio CD, but I'm sure you can burn a copy.

I still got a working Sega. Sadly, no enough money for the game :p I personally would love to see a good side scrolling brawler made.

I know but I think it was broken or something. I cant think of a good reason why I got rid of it.

Most of the game was written in C, the tools are C++ (command line tools), Visual Basic and C# (Windows UI tools).

The sound driver was written in Z80 ASM, some parts of the game engine are in 68K asm.

They also used Dream Catcher, a set of tools they coded themselves.

I regret getting rid of my old ones, but when I needed some cash and was able to sell it I did. The only one I regret though is my Genesis + 32x.

Nomad was great but very expensive at the time. I had a Game Gear myself and loved it. Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat 2 were the shit.
