That trait is typical of DOA 4 and an unfortunate one.

I invite you to try any of the preceding DOA games, you will find that is is not possible to abuse the game with such endless combos.
The DOA series uses a simple and sane rock/scissor/paper as its basis.

    Hit > Grab > Counter > Hit

You have to vary your strikes and above all not be predictable. A combo is more predictable after each of its strikes, you can't allow to do a long one as you will get countered.

However, DOA 4 has nerfed the counter part of the gameplay equation, which resulted in a TEKKENisation of the game.
(Practice and memorize combo by heart, wait for the right time, apply combo, GG).

That is the reason why my buddy and I, even if we are long time players of the series (since the original Arcade/Saturn opus), haven't played much of DOA 4. The HD graphics are very good, but the gameplay isn't there anymore. Which is a pity, really.

aaaaah DOA 3 ... Played it regularly for two years with my game buddy (together with Halo). Tag mode for the win.

Leon can be a very annoying opponent with all his grabs and member breaking moves. Especially when paired with Bayman.

Sagat From SF the Origal Bad guy Turned into Good guy!

I still regret not buying that game... I really wanted to get it but every time I would go to get it some other game would be coming out that someone was bugging me to get. I actually saw a collectors edition left in a gamestop when I was traveling with my uncle one time. I wanted to get a game that everyone would like though and they are more of sports people... I was killing me not to buy it... in the end they talked me into buying a golf game...
