the engine started in flat lands..the hills are starting one of the many rivers we crossed... imagine this when the snow is melting dark clouds threaten but soon are gone..made for dramatic scene great little valleys..I wanted to trek them all lots and lots of tunnels clouds pilling up behind the mountains, about to spill over into the valley there are 40 million sheep..4 million kiwis(New zealanders) ...and these cows
Yeah the sights are stunning. Reminds me a lot of my home town. I'll have to take some pictures of post them here.
Yup Im here in NZ,just got my work visa. Its good till april, then I apply for my residence visa under the partnership rules. Next april will be 12 months I have lived with my fiance here. We have to show them we been in a stable relationship for 12 months. SO far..so good. I wish I was in the country side..but all that is close to home. I live in the Capital of NZ, Wellingon...pop 195,000, not to small not too big. A very nice cultured town...compact downtown that has great nightlife on a sweet looking harbor and more restaurants per capita than New York city.
instead of another thread for pics...Ill just post here pics of other trips we take...we off on weekenders all the time.. this is dunedin..from lanarch castle..the best view from our room was the bathroom..this pic is taken while im on the throne...well it was a castle. hhm an aviary watermark..Im trying google chrome for the aviary editing plugin
That fat kid in me wants out...now. Those are some beautiful photos Doctor. How hard was it to get your work visa in NZ?
I started out doing the applications myself..but the more I heard from people who have their visas, work visas and residences, the more I realsized I didnt want to make a mistake. I have an immigration lawyer now.. It is not easy getting in New Zealand. If I were not here on a partnership program,I'd probably be asked to leave when this work visa expires. I'd not have got a work visa to begin with if I was not on the partnership program I think.
wintersports are very popular here with visitors...besides the southern alps..its winter here when its summer in the northern hemisphere. The skiers come from europe to stay here in europes summer. and vice versa for the summer sport people...surfers..etc. Ive not made it up into the alps in the snow yet...I will one day. Summer has just started.
I guess this is somewhat true with most contries. Best of luck with your residental paper work and lets hope there are no kinks in the system.
I would love to go back to NZ, my dad was born there so i can get a NZ passport etc without too many problems (hopefully!) Aiming to move out there when i finish uni to get a job in Countryside related work of which there is no shortage over there ;p Might have to dig out some of the photos taken when i was over there in 2000 (I was 11 or 12 at the time so didn't actually take any photos) and scan them Spent 3 1/2 weeks touring from Auckland down to Dunedin, across via Gueenstown and back up the west coast to Auckland. Link to the places i went to/route we took: clicky
We have a lot of buildings that look like that in Cumberland MD that is about 10 miles east of where I am at. The town looks nice from the crosstown bridge but don't walk its streets. Hard to think that its nickname was once the "Queen City"
