I put a price watch on the Q9550 (LGA 775,) so if it drops below $250 I will get an email. I can post my specs later but I wanted to ask, if the price drops low enough on the Q9550 would you buy it? Then wait another year or two to upgrade and future proof at that time. I am pretty sure I have an E6600 2.4, so the bump in performance would be noticeable. Will the new chips and prices be reasonable on the new architecture, in 3-6 months? What do you guys think?
This is the problem with all of us PC gamers. When we buy new hardware that is new or close to new, its replaced with a new slightly shinier model. I would suggest buying it because it should last you a while and it should provide a good 2-3 years at least of decent use. I say go for it.
