Another XoObie asked me via PM for some pros and cons. If ya don't mind I'll just copy & paste my response here. :D

About combat being frustrating if you're used to hotbars: There is a hotbar, though it's much smaller than that of other MMORPGs. DCUO has an "action game"-like combat system [kinda like TERA] where you'll be using your mouse buttons for your default attacks. Your hotbar has "special abilities."

    Gracias Moneda!
So its something like GW/GW2 where you have a small amount of skills in any given fight.
Champions online had something like this also in their betta, but after a lot of fight for some group test they change that, worst mistake they could have ever done lol. (the game was done so you chose a mall amount of skill to fight, once you could use all your skill all the time the there was no choise anf pvp was a madnes of just bring everying op to the fight!)

to be honest i always hated having 40+ skills with 20 hotkeys at my disposal.
    but thats just me.

the UI, etc. can be worked on in betta much faster than gameplay and grafics. and over all game story.

in your small skill bar can you change you skills, or they are fixed by "class"

Right now your hotbars are basically the "role" you're choosing to play at any moment. My current character can do damage or be a healer, but I also have an ability that transforms me into... something else. So I can customize 3 hotbars: Damage, Healing, Avatar. When I'm soloing I use the damage bar. When I group up and enter an instance I press "T" and it switches to the healing bar. You can have different abilities on each bar OR you can have the exact same abilities on each, which may benefit you also because some abilities work differently depending upon what stance you use them in.

on a related DC note: Arkham Asylum is $13 on steam for one more day. Downloaded it yesterday and am pleased enough with it to tell people, get it if you haven't played it.

On a more related note, maybe I'll give this a shot since I've been in the mood for these type of games lately. The champions/coh style games weren't something that interested me in the past, but this looks a lot better so far. Thanks for the info on it.

do we know when beta ends? i know it started oct7

That's a good question I don't know the answer to, lol. Since the people who preordered have a deadline up until Nov. to get their beta key I imagine it'll at least run until the end of the year, and possibly a month or two into the first quarter of next year.
