Yea, I'm debating it atm. I'm trying to decide between building a new pc or just breaking down and finally getting an all purpose laptop.
Thing is with laptops they aren't really upgradeable (obviously) so it's either go big or get screwed over in a few months when new tech comes out. Really your looking at around $2k minimum although you could probably find a deal on newegg or somewhere if you look hard enough.
$2000 is what I'm expecting to pay, I need something that I can doing mapping/dbplanet work on, as well as game. I'll probably go with the new Asus RoG since they switched over to the nvidia cards from the amd's problematic line. SSD + 2T HDD 12g Ram w/ good proc (don't remember it's exact off hand) will hold me over for at least 2 years or so. Plus I'm self employed so I get to write it off.
idk I think my Tech-bench for about half a year while I modded my case was pretty ingenious =), though that does look pretty awesome, just wouldn't want to put too much power into it in fear of it walking off. What 0$ and a slab of wood can do for half a year with an overabundance of fans =)
Being able to mount a full size PSU on a Mini-ITX Mobo is nice for sure since thats usually the main limitation in Cases for practical high end use of a decent ITX board not being able to get enough power. For my next build I want to try my best to do something like this that is portable and can use a full sized like 1000W Powersupply.
