ok so im looking to build a new compy by using what i can from my exisiting computer and buying the rest.

    http://www.cclonline.com/product-in...y_id=1160&manufacturer_id=0&tid=zt-40201-10p#

    http://www.cclonline.com/product-in...ry_id=485&manufacturer_id=0&tid=ocz700mxsp-uk

    http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=47401&tid=gsearch

these are everything i need to buy and are pretty much bang on budget.

anyone 2in the know" care to take a look over these and give me a few opinions, what i could improve/change without spending more cash... anything you know of thats maybe better value? anything there thats a little more extravagant than i need.

basically i want a compy to run TERA but i also want it to last me at least 3 years and be easily upgradeable when i do eventually need to.

one stipulation, any suggestions need to be purchaseable from the site linked as these guys are top notch when it comes to customer support, product quality and a massive plus, are a 10 minute drive from my house so no shipping costs.

I don't know what the price difference usually is between Canada and the UK, but around here you can get a GTX 470 for around $300 Canadian which exchanges to a bit less than that 211 price tag.

Otherwise.. I personally stay away from OCed processors. Overclocking will always decrease the expected lifespan, but I've never OCed any of mine to be familiar with how much it improves performance and just how much it affects the lifespan. With proper cooling, I think you'll be fine for 3 years.

The OC'd CPU/Board combo should be just fine, as it's advertised as being OC'd so the 3year Warranty has to stand behind the "as advertised."

I am putting that board on my new PC as well. What brand is the RAM? Am I just not seeing it?

It just says "6GB 1600MHz DDR3 Triple Channel Memory Kit" doesn't state what brand.

EDIT: Looking at the picture, it looks like Corsair memory. You can find similarly coloured sticks at http://www.canadacomputers.com/prod...item_id=020504&sid=g5ah15l9lnfjfs65nnus8uj7a6 None of Corsair's 1600mhz kits look like that, so that RAM might be overclocked too.

You should look for a better power supply. That one is only rated at its lifetime and power at 25 degrees c. Good PSUs are rated for continuous wattage at 45 degrees.

That Corsair brand 750 watt PSU that Vandiego posted is the one you should get. Its a good price for what it is.

I would never recommend someone buying a non-modular PSU at this point.

Corsair's warranty is for 11 years or so (which I think most of the industry has adopted at this point). I have a Corsair PSU in all of my systems and am happy with each of them.

Right now I would highly recommend waiting on buying anything with ATI 6XXX series just around the corner, not only will they walk all over the Fermi's they will initiate large price drops across alot of cards.

So at very least if your not an ATI fan, wait for the Nvidia Price drops that will come as a result from the 6XXX series, because 1 6870 is going to roughly cost the same if not sightly less then 1 480, which is going to be blown out of the water.

otherwise It is a fairly solid set up.

Only other thing I could recommend, again waiting, is for the new AMD CPU's and new Intel CPU's, Bulldozer and Sandy Bridge which are expected to come out in 2011 I believe if your just planning on using this for TERA, so your current CPU power should be suffice until Bulldozer or Sandybridge arrive.

And like Above poster mentioned, Corsair for life and for always, best PSU ever.

I was folding on that thing for a solid week and never realized how hot it was getting from being full load and having a poorly vented 8800GT nuking it and that thing stood up to the challenge.

Yeah the 6870's price is damn good for what you get. Personally im gonna wait it out to see how the 69XX series looks compared to the 5870.
