Need a case? Check out the 600D

Discussion in 'Tech Talk' started by Vandiego, Oct 6, 2010.

  1. Now, I'm sure most enthusiasts have seen the Obsidian line from Corsair by now, but they are somewhat pricey for the average consumer. The 700D was released about 3 months ago, and now the 600D is poised to tear up the mid/low range market.

For $160 on Newegg this case is probably one of the best you can get for that price tag.

  2. This better than the 800d? I haven't checked prices on those but I know they are all the rave right now on the modding forums I check.

Better for watercooling, heard their airflow was not really that great.
But great for water cooling management.

Pretty interesting I was thinking of getting a new case, was going to get an antec 1200.

  4. If you want the best of the best, Windy just started shipping to the USA a couple months ago. I want to buy one so bad but just cant afford it right now. I love the Black Knight from them:

The 600D looks nice for the price tag. I'll stick with my Antec 1200 though.

This is the case I'm using in my new build far as I'm concerned its the best case on the planet. Aside from this which a RL friend used in his latest build.

If you wan't to know all about the case ask Pherix in TS when you get on tonight. I know one of the main benefits aside from the cooling is the layout. Hardrive, Video cards etc are extremely easy to access..

  13. and i thought we where talking luggage.... damn my luck.

I don't like it at all, I couldn't imagine trying to do the cable management on that thing. I couldn't see anyone paying that price for any case. With the only exception being the blackbirds when they first came out but stupid HP wouldn't let me buy just a case.

@Sogetsu - is it better than the 800d, no, but it's not designed to be. It's designed to be a low to mid range priced case. Which is why I thought I'd share it with everyone. When I build my post contract completion present to me, I'll be using the 800d, but for half the price, I'd recommend the 600 to anyone.

  15. it looks nice but I'm guessing it doesn't have a removable back plate nor the grommets I've grown to love over the past year for cable management.

Plus for me, it's not big enough :)

My new project I need 4 optical bays and 8-10 3.5 bays.

Actualy from the bit of reading I've done today most people rate the Haf 922-X series ahead of the Corsair 600-800. Especialy for cooling PS on the bottom airflow from front to back and out the top. Aswell as running H20 systems it also has the grommets for cable setup. It comes down to what you like though personaly I like the styling and modular design.

Video of the HAF X won't imbed properly so heres the link if you want to see everything about it.

It was amazing. I have never had much of a problem with cooling until I tried to run SLI 8800's in a regular case - got way too hot. But to be fair, comparing this with any other case is kind of unfair because this thing is so compartmentalized.

Everything has its own space, and a fan to go with it, even each individual hard drive. It comes with 2 fans for the first 2 HD's, with the ability to add one for each additional HD's, up to 6. The Power Supply, DVD, Motherboard, and HD's are all separated into sections, each with their own cooling system. But running FFXIV on max settings and never even hear the fans spin up to max RPMs. This thing is so quiet, don't even know its on besides the lights.

But to be fair, it is heavy as fuck - 50lbs empty case, and it is dam expensive. But, good thing is I will never have to buy another case. Also, everything you need to access has its own access panel - MB, PS, HD, DVD, all can be accessed without disturbing anything else. Also has each HD access port pre-wired and cable tied up nice and neat, along with 4 USB pre-wired, 1 SATA pre-wired, and onboard sound, so cable management is almost non existant.

But hey, not for everyone, as I am a Tech freak, and the price was doable for me.
