Wow.. what tragedy... Shame it had to end so quick.

  2. Tragic indeed.

Honestly I've stumbled on this story 3 times and read it in a few other places. Just getting old. Where's all the people saying video games save lives? I guess in actuality he was just swerving away from the car... he just happened to be on the left side, the side in which oncoming traffic is...

  9. There's really no words for that article / event.

What a bunch of damn morons in that other car, taking off his sweater while driving? Put everyone lives in danger, and most of the people in this event's lives were lost.

    No common sense.

    Edit:
I don't think this is "Win." Clever sure, but..

Sad thing. Shit happens to everyone.

On the point about he saved his wife's live, I am highly doubful though.
A side impact is way more lethal than a front one, a car is designed to absorb impact energy from a front collison, that's also what the seat belt are designed for.

What saved her is the fact the other car jumped over them, taking off the roof and glasses in the process.

  12. Before rolling over the victim's vehicle they slammed into his side. If he had not swerved it would have been a head-on collision. Whether he meant to or not he probably saved his wife and child.

  13. She won't get what she deserves. They never do.

  14. She as the in the wife yeah? If so I agree. Its sad to read that this happened. Regardless of the person, weather he be a designer or a guy working at a 7-11. What he did saved his wife life and that of their unborn child. Sadly there are people are don't take the responsibility that there are other people who drive to and driving under the influence of anything that impairs your judgment, vision or mental state is just stupid.

  15. "the 33-year old North Vancouver man braked and swerved his Subaru wagon so that he would take the force of the head-on collision"

"At the very last second (Brian) braked really hard and turned right so that he would be put in the path of the SUV and not me and the baby, and that is the only thing that saved us both"

"When Wood braked and swerved slightly, the Blazer continued forward, its momentum driving it over top of the Subaru, the wheels crushing the roof of the smaller car killing Wood and causing his wife to suffer a non-life-threatening head injury as well."

not to turn this into a great debate, but it appears that this was still front to front initial impact, with the blazer rolling over and crushing the left / driver's side of the victim's car.

also, there's three versions - he braked and swerved hard, just braked and swerved, and a braked and swerved slightly version.

    typical.

overall, the dev's reactions did in fact save his wife. I imagine that he was trying to and would have preferred to save both, but the end result is that his wife and unborn child are still alive.

also, I think Van meant she as in the driver of the blazer - she won't get punished appropriately for such an act of reckless and thoughtless behavior behind the wheel of such a big vehicle.
