When I was in the States..I never heard of True Blood..on HBO. I missed the first two seasons, that won awards. Now that I'm in New Zealand Ive been watching this with fascination. I usually avoid anything to do with vampire stories. This is not twilight The writing and acting is superb..but its the story lines..they are outrageous..I'm hooked. I need to find the back episodes and catch up
I enjoyed it up until a few weeks ago. It has its moments, but it just doesn't really entertain me much anymore. The only thing I miss is Lafayette.
I dumped HBO to cut down on outrageous cable bills, but I've seen all of Season I & II through Netflix...love it! I don't know much about Season III, but if Mondeda said this: I can only assume the worst and that would suck if he's out.
Oh..phew..thanks for clearing that up. Although I hated how he cowered so much in Season II, he's quite entertaining
This is pretty much the only show I watch, It has its "meh" moments but it always has me coming back for more xD Also, 4th season is already in the works so I am pumped to see how season 3 ends!!!
I didn't even realize the 3rd season started.. I really enjoyed the first 2 though so will have to catch up. I'm a big fan of a lot of the HBO/Showtime series. They just beat reg TV imo. Dexter is one of my all time fav shows, Weeds, Californication, Entourage, Life and Times of Tim, Curb your Enthusiasm!!!@@ Sorry, plain cable TV, you just can't beat these shows. AMC hangs in there though.
True Blood is amazing, in Season III Lafayette still is in there it would suck to have him cut from the show. And it is already 8 episodes into Season III, some things are confusing but it's slowly getting cleared up, can't wait for this upcoming episode.
Sweet, I have to wait unitl next summer for Netflix to release it But, cool thing is watching the entire season in a week
You know that True Blood is based on a book series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Southern_Vampire_Mysteries Haven't read them personally, but know that with many things, the book is usually better. Oh and True Blood is great to watch.
It is pretty awesome, I usually just wait until a season finishes then grab it all at once. So I probably won't read any replies to this thread for threat of veiled spoilers until the season finale occurs ;P
I've read the books and they are decent (not amazing but much much better than the shit that is Twilight). There are a lot of differences between the books and the series, but the author has said she approves of the two different universes. There are differences in characters (especially Tara) and in some cases the TV version is better (Pam), but I think both versions hold up well. The TV show isn't a direct translation of the book, but I like the changes they have made.
I was told the books are different, mainly, because they are all based on Sookie's point of view only.
I got bored after the first few episodes of the third season. The first two seasons were all right, but some of the characters are so freaking annoying. The sex scenes are pretty distracting too, but I guess they have to put them in somewhere.
I recently read every book in the series as well, and despite being aimed at women readers (lots of details about clothes, hair and men), I agree they were pretty decent overall. I didn't like the second book (but I loved series 2)and the last most recent book was a 90% snooze-fest. Yes! I love how the show takes the good characters from the books (Sookie, Eric, Jason) and doesn't change them that much, but takes the rest of the riff raff and makes them much more interesting and real. Hell, Eric and Lafayette make the show for me, but it's quite different in the books. For some reason, the book version of Bill never sat right with me. Except for the first book, he always seemed kind of a blob of a character. TV Bill is much much more entertaining and defined. I definately like the show a lot more than the books. But if you have spare time at work or just like to read, it's neat to experience a different take on the same universe. (Just be aware of the speed bump that is the second book)
Yeah I feel ya, I'm liking this third season more so than the second. This show is just fun, there's times when it gets silly, like some of the vampire theatrics get kind of corny but If you can just laugh at it, it all starts to make sense.
