I wonder if this helps settle the question..which is better for gaming..PC or console... http://au.gamespy.com/articles/110/1107892p1.html
Yeah... most competitive games I can think of favour the sort of flexibility and control a PC setup gives you. The results therefore aren't too surprising, though it does surprise me that such a test took place - I'd never heard about anything of the sort before.
They should have pretended to lose, so this project could have become reality... then what happened next would be real fun
So funny as all console players that I work with think they are godlike (especially in the PS3 vs XBox debate). Have always stated k/m combo is the best for most games. However it depends what they were playing. FPS would say k/m combo is best, but a platformer such as mario or a driving game, give me a joypad/wheel any day of the week.
Yeah same, Keyboard and mouse is just plain superior. What's sad is the people at microsoft who wanted to test this think controllers had a chance. Any veteran FPS player would have laughed at this. I'm kind of scared for PC when I think about how big consoles are getting. Already some games aren't making it to PC, I'm just scared it's going to get worse and worse. Maybe they'll release ability to use mouse and keyboard with consoles. I would get into a lot more console FPS if they did.
There are already keyboards & mice out for consoles, or that can connect to consoles via USB port [those that have 'em]. Console cowboys either don't know or think they're hot shit and don't need 'em. I laughed that this was even done also. I think it shows just how much some in the "gaming industry" know about gaming. :arrrg:
Using a console controller is even worse than keyboard turning, I don't know why they thought it would even be comparable.
Hmm I had heard something about mice and keyboards for consoles.. would definitely get more into gaming on the console if I could do that.
I don't think k/m support for consoles would be at the same level as PC support of the peripherals. I used a mouse on the original Xbox and it was nothing compared to using one on PC. No acceleration for one, and a host of other issues. I reverted to using a controller. Also, afaik, keyboard support for consoles is limited to dashboard/OS functionality, and not actual game use.
This was my thought. I wasn't sure if using a mouse and keyboard would work for actual rebinding and what not, example using wasd to move.
I know you can change acceleration on most fps games now. I remember Halo 2 let me set mine, even with a controller.
