Why always yellow? Its not a fun read and from what I hear most people can't read it well.

For those who are looking for an MMO and have never played FF11 need to know that the gameplay is a billion times slower than every other mmo out there. If I scare one person out of a disappointing waste of 50 bucks because the genre is a niche that requires 5 people to stand around and auto attack until their big attacks come up 10 seconds later then I think I've done my job. If I let the ff fans know that their game is just as slow and strategic(actually more so in 14) as 11 so they don't have to worry about drastic changes and feel secure in pre-ordering for all the cool shit then I think I've done my job.

I tell it exactly like it is and then I toss in my opinion not always that order.

I appreciate the responses. And yes, Sokar, you did save me $70 as I cannot bring myself to play something that appears to be even slower than Warhammer, as I thought that was almost unbearable.

Ah, my main was a gladiator and a conjurer in alpha. The problem with those spells is that they take a while to come back up. The amount of spells used isn't the problem its the time between them.

Another question is how are you able to play? did they change the test times?

it was up from 5am pdt to 8am pdt today

the spells have a 4sec cd and spirit dart is now 'spamable' as long as you have stam.

i like the fact i can put all my points into Int/Pie (Spellpower/spell acc) AND then put points into ress like Fire and my fire spell will hit harder from that. (same for water/water earth/earth etc)

mana regen is still kinda iffy, they have a skill called traq that gives 50% mana back but its a 30min cd.
As long as i had enough MP to heal/throw some spells i was good to go before i needed to head to Camp to heal up my Mp. Im sure as we level our mana pools get bigger and wont matter as much since in groups we wont need to be main healers since melee/range will have ways to heal themselfs. but at lower levels if you dont manage your mp good you can be running back and forth to camp alot lol

Also the Guildleves are alot of fun atm you can only do 3 a day but they are well worth it. you get the Guildleves go to a crystal pick what you want to do pick how hard you want it (harder the better rewards but it may take a group to do) some have time limits. the event starts and they will tag the mobs you need so that people dont fight over whos mobs who. after you finish them a small crystall pops up and you turn it in your reward and xp and it will let you travel to town its a neat system.

Man people thought WAR was slow? I have to say that's probably my favorite MMO PvP wise. I'm still very excited to play this game but damn Sokar, make it sound more like a peice of turtle shit will ya. I'd suggest most to all try any game out, everyone has different opinions and likes things for their own reasons. With that said, I still can't wait. =]

I thought WAR was very slow combat. Hopefully you'll get into the beta and get to see for yourself.

Hmmm do me a facor Ofock if you have played WAR make a melee class, and tell me if the combat is on par with WAR, speed wise, if it is then I'll have no fuss with combat time. I played a marauder when WAR first came out, then played a DoK for a majority of the time then made a Blackguard, loved every second of it.

Alrighty but the only class i played in WAR was a Warrior priest. and as a tip you dont need to make a toon to play as a melee :p you just need to buy melee weapon and use it

    Alright thanks.
"and as a tip you dont need to make a toon to play as a melee you just need to buy melee weapon and use it"
With that said it's pretty obvious being a caster and putting on a melee and beating things up, you wont be as good as melee class? Or is it you just don't get the skills? Or you pick up a sword and shield and now you're a gladiator?
What I thought was you can change your class like FFXI, but do that any where in the world. Only problem was you didn't have start weapons which didn't really matter.

Your weapon in your class. each class has a set of weapons. so you could level conj to rank 20 and get cure II and then switch to glad and still have the conj skills. each players has a set number of action points each spell has a set action cost so atm my conj has 10 AP and my fire spell costs 3 same with my lightning. so since i only have 10 AP i can have my Fire/lighting/cure on my action bar + my auto attack and my 30min spell.

so as your phy level going up you get more AP for more skills to equip and you also get to put points into your stats Str/Dex/Vit/Mind/Int/Pie so for my example You level your conj up and your glad to be good at both you would want to spread your stats around probably STR(attack power)Vit(Phy Def) Dex(Atk Acc)Mind (magic def) then throw in some Int (spell power) so your cure II hits harder. (im not sure what really is needed for the glad but you get the idea)

Ah I see well that's cool so does the fact when you have to pick "X" class over "X" class have different beginning stats? Also for auto attack, it's just that auto attacking, press it once and it's doing attacks according to your attack speed? I read you can also reset points is that for skills or is that stats?

I'm hearing that the combat is still brutally slow when reading around. It seems to be the only real issue thats turning players off.

If anyone has played XI the combat in XIV is 100% faster.
*note this is not wow or any other MMO its a FF MMO and for a FF game its fast*

One thing to say to the slow combat concern that will hover till open beta or full release comes out. Test the beta for yourself or wait till the full release (Or hell watch more youtube videos), it's still in beta, which means the combat system could still be tweaked. Though to be quite honest, if it's faster then FFXI is can't be that mind numbing slow. Hope we get a player base for this, would really love to play with dedicated members then just play by myself =[
P.s- I played by myself and I still enjoyed the game! Trust me, that's dedication hahaha
