hello! a couple months back i bought a Razer Naga; i rather like the look, feel and build of the mouse... but i was shocked and horrified to discover that the numberpad on the side of the mouse was exactly that... a number pad, un-programable, no macros, my only options where the top-line numberkeys or the numpad, and they seemed rather proud of giving me the ability to choose which i preferred. Though i did read that they planned to add full functionality at some unspecified point in the future, i did what i feel any red blooded gamer would have, lowered Razer several notches on my mental brand-o-meter, returned the damn piece of junk in a fit of disgust, and bought a proper gaming mouse. however, i find myself desiring more buttons than i currently posses, i have two options at current, the R.A.T. 7, which while amazingly sexy is hard to get ones hands on, and is made by Mad Catz, renown for cheap and shotty console gaming gear. the second option is the Naga, where i have heard stirrings (though hard details seems to be hiding from me) that the naga has indeed received the full functionality promised, which makes it a desirable piece of kit. thus my query, does anyone here actually have a Naga? and if so, can you confirm that the side buttons are fully programmable, and if so, to what degree? (keystrokes, common functions(minimize, etc), macros, etc)
I do have a naga, and while I have only set my keybindings for it in WoW because I am too lazy otherwise. It has treated me well. It fits my hand quite nicely, and the keys are easier to hit correctly. I actually no longer use the 1,2,3,4 etc.. keys in wow, although I guess I could now that I have the naga, but I have no need to since everything is bound to the mouse now.
I'll test this out for you now. Downloading drivers. Although I dont see the need for it myself. Its rare in any game that you need both the number pad and number bar at the same time. That would be difficult moving you hand from one side of the keyboard to the other all the time. Naga has proved to be my best friend in every game I have had once I got used to it. -------------------- Edit, I'v had the Razer Naga from before they were actually available to public and they have done some very nice software updates. The issue with programming the buttons to have individual functions. - i.e, not a binding to the keyboard is that most games with a defence mechanism such as punkbuster blocks the functionality, thus meaning the mouse is pointless in that game or at least until they do a update. I haven't had that problem in a while now so looks like Razer are influencing game development. O.k here we go, ALL buttons on the Naga are now programmable however the options the choose from are *any* key from your keyboard or a direct action from the drivers options - You can also set a macro to that key binding instead of a button - Works like a charm for me.
It's quite nice for games like aion where you need 30+ keybinds. Keep in mind mb4&5 are in a crappy place and you'll most likely end up abandoning them.
