The Mass Effect games have been one of my favorite series so far, I'm hoping the third one will not disappoint. I haven't played Dragon Age, probably won't. Co-op or some type of multi-player in ME3 would be excellent, if done right of course (like anything else).
I've played the first ME [trying to plow through it again in order to import my save into part 2] and DA:O. I loved 'em both... but can't really see how they'd go multiplayer considering the objective of both series is to pit you as the biggest hero in their respective eras. If they're expanding either series into different types of games then it's more understandable.
I see your point, although - my only feeling would be wanting to experience the universe/world with friends.
That's exactly what I think they'll do. Take the expanded universes and make games out of those. Like with Mass Effect, the multiplayer games probably won't involve Cmdr. Shepard and his adventures, or only allude to them.
Id recommend either if you like RPG single player. Dragon Age was a too short IMO..more DLC needed...but sill a good game.
We may, perhaps, hear something in relation to this tomorrow. Via the BioWare and Dragon Age official Twitter feeds: "2morrow will be a great day for BioWare fans. Just sayin'"
Is Bioware setting the stage for a MassEffect MMO, after say they release the 3rd part? I mean the game has a great following, all the lore, races, history, universe, personalities, weapons ... you name it. Seems like a good course for them to follow. Warcraft did the same thing by creating a series of singleplayer games, building a following and eventually the worlds most successful mmo ? Any thoughts ?
I don't think so. I think they went through all the trouble of lore building for the same reason they did it for Dragon Age: the aspect of making more games for that setting. Today's announcement that Dragon Age 2 will use the "Thedas" world but have nothing to do with Dragon Age: Origins is a good indicator of what may happen after Mass Effect 3. New game, new main character(s), new adventure, same universe. Also... TOR. EA probably wouldn't even allow them to work on an MMO that isn't Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Mass Effect 3 WILL continue Shepard's story, it was concieved as a trilogy right from the start, and they already stated that you will have to create a new Shepard if yours died in the suicide mission. I really like how they let you import your save files, as seeing the Council alive when you chose to let them die would be akward. As for DA2, you won't import your character. They announced that you will be playing as a new character, Hawke, male or female, human-only. But the game is set only 10 years after the end of Origins, so I guess they will let you import your Origins-Awakening save to preserve your choices in the world.
