  3. This last winter we didn't heat our house. got so cold we had icicles on the INSIDE of our windows.

only room that stayed warm was our computer room. =) we spent most our time just playing video games to stay warm lol

  4. I'm assuming this was by choice but I'm curious as to why?

  5. Ha ha saw this video when it was posted. It is simply amazing and how BP handles their affairs :p

PS, people on here that really want to cut down on their carbon footprint/ fosil fuels should really consider getting an electric car. It costs around 3dollars per charge (250miles). If you have the money go for them. tesla motors makes some nice ones.

Just curious, how is produced the electricity used by said car ?

  9. this could get even worse...a full blow out.....oil bubbles up from it for the next decade at 10 times or more than what it is flowing now.

seems some questions are arising about that now...the flow of oil is getting stronger..suggesting a full blow out is going to happen.

    I hope they are wrong.

Well I'm sure the Democrats are very happy.. they will blame Barton's apology and use it in the coming elections as well. I personally hope this oil business fades from the press and we get to the real issues for the coming election.

A relief well has been started for some time and will be operational in august IIRC.

  12. that will stop some of the oil pressure and they can cap the well...if there is a full blow out..the pipe is expelled..the oil seeps into the surrounding ground...the ground around it collapses on itself..it would then be a seeping well. No way to cap it...nothing there left to cap....until that oil field is dry using other wells..it will seep oil for possibly decades. More wells will make it seep slower..but not stop it from seeping.

Now the drilling of the new well is a race against the integrity of the ground at the leak. There is an article in bloomberg that could explain it better than I can. Sorry cant find the link.

edit..didnt find original article but here is one covering it.. http://www.theatlantic.com/science/...bp-how-close-are-we-to-the-unthinkable/58361/

    Oh boy.

  14. Is that the same theory as an air shaft in a mining operation?

Basically, go down deep enough then cut over into the main line diverting the pressure/air (in this case oil) and end up using that as a primary to enable the original to be capped.

In a nutshell, the seafloor around the blown-out well is showing signs of collapse.

When that happens, the only way to close that well is to reach before the terminal/leaking area, and inject mud/cement/whatever is best to pluck it.

Two different drilling operations are underway to reach that part, but it takes time, can be delayed by hurricanes, and success is not assured.

They need to put a big hose around that thing and just start filling tankers with this shit. There are probably many things wrong with this but I don't see how they can't do something like this since the rig is basically doing that anyway when it's drilling.
