At long last, we finally have something on this grand game. From the trailer I was quite pleased, even if it looked a little bit like a cartoon but I had expected that from the look of darksiders.

If they are going with the Order Vs Destruction which does seem possible, I would think they might spice it up in some way at the very least. Remember this will probably be GW biggest investment and they know they have to perfect this one off the bat.

Perhaps they will have certain areas where its all out war between the races and in other areas where they team up.

Don't /Ragequit just yet, the whole 'Order vs Destruction' thing may just mean you are with the Imperium or against it. It does not necessarily mean Orks and Chaos will team-up (least I hope not) but that they are a "Force of Destruction" that threatens the (relative) stability of the Imperium of Mankind.

Just my take on it, but I am a hopeless optimist when it comes to a game system I like, which explains why I still play the tabletop after all the price hikes and obvious rules changes to sell more X.

oh i havnt rage quit, yet, but i wont buy the game if they roll over the fluff by pairing any given faction together, especially with Black Templars, World Eaters and Orks around. BTs are probably the most *fanatical* chapter in existence, others you might get away with pairing up, here and there, but Black Templars put the 'fanatic' in 'murderous fanatic'... okay, they put the 'murderous' in there too >_>, they dont even tolerate the existence of Librarians. WEs are khornites, KHORNE people! their religious chants go something like "MAIM KILL BURN! MAIM KILL BURN!", theylll fight anyone they can get their hands on, for the sake of fighting, it does not matter from whence the blood flows, so long as it does, they would happily take on the Orks and the BTs at once, more blood and skull for their god. Orks love to fight too, and in their own head, theres no reason they cant fight both the black-shelled and scary red-shelled oomies at once, das twice da battle! maybe with other factions.... i might not mind so much, but they've literally picked the most intolerant groups out of a whole damn ocean of intolerant factions. so if they conflict with the fluff, theyll get no slack from me.

Another concern i have is the presence of both Guard and Space Marines. *hopefully* the Guard are NPCs, because theres no way at all the balance between a lowly Guardsmen (or even something like a kraskin) and a Space Marine. But its the kind of thing i could see a mmo-company doing.

i am a fluff puritian when it comes to 40k, i boycott Gotos little localized disasters for the same reason ill boycott this game if they start stomping all over the fluff. i still have hope, tis a small thing, but i shall hold onto it untill they confirm my worst fears :p

Saw the guards. I think one way they can balance the guards is by making them Squads. As in one space marine vs 4 guards. Yes they should still get slaughtered but these guys can all be Ghosts or Uber Vets.

I think the only reason for a two faction system would be population balance issues. I mean really how many people are going to play space marines? A lot. I don't like the idea of fighting alongside eldar either, but I'd rather do that then have no one to kill.

They mentioned cultists, so I think we could see a mirror class with imperial guard although I'm not too keen on that at all because quite frankly SM > puny humans.

Also why would they pick the Dark Templars? Librarians definately need to be a class.

The guardsman visible in the trailer were clearly NPCs, unless guards operate as a group for each player. They clearly were not each individual players though.

well i can see a way that they let you play as a guard and space marines in one "faction" they could work it in like they did with warhammer online with the orks, some player classes were da big boyz and the others was da little git gobbos, but thats just my two cents cuz i love the guard and would love to play as one :DD

Why is everyone saying 'Order vs Destruction'? We have no real info on this do we? To be honest I'm expecting something special/different from this game, and I wouldn't be surprised if they dumped the normal good vs evil like other MMOs. All orders vs orders will be fun, of course some hate more than others... which is where the good gameplay will happen.

This is why we are thinking two faction. It would be nice to see a 4 faction system but Chaos could easily be apart of the orks due to orks always being manipulated by other races into fighting.

Yea it pretty much says they are going to make the faction system as bad as they did in Winter Assault.

In 40k, as most fans know so this is a little redundant (unless you aren't a fan), every race/xenos/species basically hate eachother.
2 factions would be kinda weird. I could see multi-faction though.

Signed. Really if it takes petitions to get the devs to make the game good, well then it's probably going to be a dissapointment.

Fact is a two faction system is dated. If they can pull off 1v1v1v1 then they will have created a dominant MMO. They can then add all the co-op missions with order and destro factions working together for all I care.

Eckehart's quote came from the Dark Millenium website here

On the site the game info reports:

On the very edge of the galaxy lies the Sargos Sector. For centuries it was rendered uninhabitable and isolated by volatile Warp Storms. Even now, deep within the sector the very fabric of reality is unraveling. Only the ancient Sentinel Devices hold the Warp at bay.

But the ravages of time and meddling of humanity have weakened the Sentinel Devices-and now, the battle for these lost worlds is at hand. Drawn to the conflict, the great races of the galaxy descend upon the Sargos Sector, seeking to preserve reality-or to tear it asunder.

Side with the forces of Order, or the vile hosts of Destruction, in a war that will unlock ancient secrets, reveal dark purposes, and determine the fate of the Sargos Sector. For in this dark millennium, there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter.
