Man, I'm way east coast, but that'd be cool if we got groups together. Got a while until that happens, so maybe I will be able to make it out there if I have time off / we get a group!! Kinda pumped :3
PAX haha i've tried to get groups together for PAX last couple years ^.^ I only live less than an hour away from Seattle so ill deffinitly be there.
well if enough people sign up I will organize it personally and attend. I will give everyone a while to post and sign up and then we will begin talks about hotels, meeting places, rosters, etc. Some may not need a hotel, but for those that do might as well stay in the same one.
already got my ticket to pax went last year it was a blast so much fun, was there for 5 days. was by myself last year so would be fun to hang with other people.
I know I can just go to the website for this, but I would like to hear it from the "fan" stand point.. but, what is PAX like? in a nut shell whats fun to do/look at? At this point in time, PAXs seems more like a possibility of going to than blizzcon. ( have fam in LA area ) but its a long ass drive from OR.. the drive to Seattle seems more doable
Well at PAX they have the expo are where they show off all the new upcomming games let you play demo's have contests and where they sell things. Also throughout the day people in the games industry talk about how they do there jobs how they create what they do. tl; dr Basically they have the huge loud expo area where people play game and buy stuff while in rooms throughout the convention center they hold lectures about the industry.
pax is more of a big fun gaming get together, with a side of convention stuff. It does have speakers and some big events. last year the had the new SW mmo, showed a new class and gave out free copies of sw the old republic. the really thing is its a gamers place. it has computer, video, board, card, and any other type of game type available. it has over 200+ computers games, board games, video games all free to use and the place doesnt close till around 2-3 am. also has great gaming tournaments going on all day. was in a 200 person smash tournament last year its really a place to just experience all forms of gaming and just having fun with other people with your own interest hope that explains it for you.
forgot to add this and I can't edit.....SO only problem I see with me is finding some decent plane tickets and a nice hotel to stay at.
I will be trying to coordinate with everyone a little closer to the convention date to pick up hotels. Plane tickets you are on your on, but I can tell you that this will be a kickass event. I will try my hardest to get everyone arrested, drunk, and many many mythical hot gamer chics.
The PAX website has deals with hotels in the area and you can get rooms at a decent price. Also I might be able to put a couple people for a couple days at my place in Auburn will be a drive there and back but its not too bad that is if i dont just get a hotel room there myself.
I WANT CHEAP PLANE TICKETS LOL seriously its utterly ridiculous i think I traveled to fricken Florida at a more short notice cheaper. plus if you did think I think I could vouch for gas....because I sure as hell am not renting a car.....how far away is the airport from everything?
the question is how much would people pay for a hotel? the variance is only about $40, but across several days it can be more expensive. There is really only one options Westin Seattle PAX - one bed / 5.00 blocks $159 This still has some slots available for every day we want to go. However, spots ARE limited on the 6th with only 6 rooms available unless some of you questionables want to bunk up. =P Link to Westin website http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1055
is that $159 for the whole thing or what? to be honest I would rather just stay at a decent hotel but going over $100 a night is nuts.
I thought $159 was pretty average and is about the same for every hotel listed on the PAX website. If you want to do some offsite searching feel free to report your results. Also, if some of you want to share a room with double beds, you can split a room for the same cost but, half the price individually - so $79.5 per person/per night for a room with double beds.
