seen it last night..full audience...it was total silence as everyone left. I think everyone was thinking the same thing...that was robin hood? what was the plot again?...that sort of sucked... I would not recommend this movie..cept to the most die hard russel crow fan..and dont go in thinking anything about gladiator. a few battle scenes here..not the robin hood type..and not very long battle scenes..more like they were background to the dialog. and dont go lookng for fancy arrow shots...he only tries two..and misses the first one.
The flaw with the movie was the focus on the strange love story of Robin hood and Lady Marien they focused on it WAY too much almost to make the audiance look stupid. The movie is different than the average robin hood remake at it's best. Russell Crowe in the movie is depicited more as a swordsman than really an archer. There is lots of talking in the movie in order to develop a seemingly obvious plot with little to no twists. The battles are okay consisting of skirmishes and sieges but don't expect anything you haven't seen before and Robin Hood stays distant from the majority of them.
now that ive thought more about this..Id say this movie was a prequel to robin hood....where this movie ends...is where the robin hood story starts. The classic robin hood story.
If you any of ya enjoy reading, I would recommend a trilogy by Stephen Lawhead. First book is called "Hood" and it's the story of Robin Hood, how he became Robin Hood, etc. I was looking forward to watching this movie but from what I read here, I think I might have to wait until after it hits the red box or something along those lines.. ~Drag.
Stop directing our members to your gangsta publications!!! stupid korean! I miss say i was totally disappointed with this movie... thought i wasted 3 hrs of my life that i can never get back....
dude.. I enjoyed every minute of this movie.... Like it was said before, this is how Robin Hood, BECOMES Robin Hood. I enjoyed it, and you can definitely expect a sequel to come around more than likely.
WORST. MOVIE. one of the small problems with the movie is its plot. its is arranged very haphazardly, and its noticeably unintentional. like a jar of something spilled. the biggest flaws, imo, though, was the focus of the movie and the characterization. it never seems direct or distinct. the story for the film itself is actually an amalgamate of a series of robin hood myths (saw it on history channel) and so has to make connections between various characters that had none otherwise. while I can deal with a movie that hops around I can't deal with one that does so within such tepid moments - moments that need to be all the more emotional, powerful, or defining of a character when they are arranged as such. but it doesn't and so those moments become very insular, which is exactly what a hero movie like this doesn't aim for. characters hardly talk to one another, and when they do its typically short and trivial: little john and robin hood exchange around 10 sentences the whole movie, as do him and maid marian. the sheriff has about 5 lines as well, and theyre very short. and dont even get me started on the king - his character was so whimsically contradictory i almost thought id walked out of the film, pissed, and somehow forgotten i had. as for the rest of it, character's convictions border on being arbitrary. robin hood's forgotten or inherited past (which is barely touched upon and not very clear) is a joke of a motivational factor. they should have left some characters out and kept the focus more rigid instead of straining so hard on the mythological side of it, and trying to create a movie out of some pure-backstory pyramid. i felt like i was watching chess pieces, not characters.
FYI, the french never touched english soil, therefore this story is pure fail! edit: to keep on-topic, I read that apparently the editing is REALLY bad, which might be a reflection of Fliggen's comments. Plus im off to see Prince of Persia on Monday
Guys sucking on neck and guys that turn into Fuzzy monsters.... I don't think that there isn't one thing in that movie that Lime wouldn't like at all... or the previous ones.....
Braveheart without ANY of the good parts. Twas so bad I was actually surprised it wasn't a 3-D movie.
