I posted about this on the Tera forums and was wondering if anyone else had any advice in finding out what the problem is...

    Edit:
Also I thought you guys may get a laugh out of this. If you follow the link to the post by badtrip up there it will take you to a post in which someone is having hardware issues. Irony ftw!

*grabs crappy 10 year old PSU from attic knowing that it doesn't have any of the plugs he needs*

To my surprise I was actually able to plug in the mobo with it. So, I unplug everything else and remove it if necessary. Turns on computer. It still will not turn off via the power button.

Which leaves... the mobo and the processor. :( Neither of which I have replacement parts of to test if that is the issue.

Are the lights on the mobo coming on when the PC is idle? Does your PSU have a light on the back of it to let you know it's getting power? What were you doing when it stopped working?

    Uh, what lights?

    No.

I plugged in a sata card little did I know I didn't push it in all the way I turned on the computer and it didn't show up. Thus I took the cover back off without turning the computer off. I touched the sata card and it slid down into the slot... then computer restarted pink smoke from... somewhere and now it doesn't turn on.

Yeah, I know call me an idiot as many times as you want fact is I did it. :\

You blew up your mobo and who knows what else. When cox did something similar he had to replace the majority of his system.

You skimped out on the PSU and now you pay for it. That's the biggest mistake people make when building a PC. A good PSU = long life for your system.

Not really, more than likely you need a new system in it's entirety. But, you can just try piecing a box together one component at a time to find out what's bad and what will be bad soon.
