To the members of XoO: I require your assistance. What I am requesting will sound strange and foreign to many of you. To some, coming from PhoenixDog this will sound normal, but I would like some recommendations as to how I would accomplish a task like this, and what parts I would use. I would like to take a Barbie Power Wheels. This one in particular and remove the 12V motor from it, as well as the plastic wheels. I would like to reinforce the body of the Power Wheels, and attach 4 dedicated Lawnmower engines to each wheel, replaced with rubber lawnmotor wheels. I would then tie the throttles of the 4 engines into a central point and use that as the throttle of the vehicle. Would this even be possible (I'm pretty sure it is) and how fast could I get this thing to go? Any opinions and advice is helpful.
It would be pretty cramped. I'd recommend building it from scratch. An easy way to do this would be to take the two ropes of each engine on each side that control the throttle and tie them together. You could hold two ropes to steer.
That's what happens if you do it before what PDog is suggesting, I doubt lawnmower wheels have that much give to them. As for a $200 piece of pink plastic? You can get a real car that lasts a couple months for $600 I'd go buy your nearest mechanic a beer and have a friendly chat while being careful not to make it seem like you're interested in them doing it. Either that or find someone who's done work like this in XoO and chat on vent.
I would love to see a video of you messing around with the final product, but I don't know much about making it happen
I think there is a flaw in the idea of a motor for each wheel... if they were not moving exactly the same speed your going to get odd results. Your better off with one motor with some sorta drive shaft that connects to all 4 wheels as then all the wheels will always be turning at the same speed... but then you might also run into odd results with traction if one wheel is one a differant surface... (reason differentials are needed)
The only thing i've ever done to a Barbie Power Wheels (as depicted in gif above), was take out the engine and clutch so that my brother and I could roll down a street and crash into ditches; and when it just rained we'd go down the hill and when it leveled out we'd cut the wheel and spin.
