Explaine your talent selection (theorycrafting source, specialization choices etc): Experimenting with things myself, E-jerks, and rarely the wow forums. 3. Your Age: 21 4. Current professions and their raid benefit: Engineering and Mining, switched to recently. No benefit at this time. 5. How long you've been playing WoW and what PvE progression you've accomplished: Four months after initial public release until now, breaks on and off. I've done all raids after BC launched as each role. (edit: i forgot that you might want to know that i've done 10 man lich king and some hardmodes on ten man as the tank. i have experience with the first four and rotface on the heroic difficulty) 6. Describe how you theorycraft your class (websites, spreadsheets, etc): Mostly through my own trial and error, i also read the odd forum post on EJs. 7. Occupation and living arrangements that impact raiding (family, schedule, etc): None currently. 8. Guild History - where are you leaving and why: Exile, falling apart due to lack of raid interest. 9. How did you hear about us? List any friends/references within the guild: Gakh primarily. 10. List your raid consumables and your method for maximizing them: Healing potions, Indestructible potions, Stoneblood flasks, any stam food buff. Depends on the fight of course, if i anticipate large damage i will use the armor potion, otherwise i will use healing potions to deal with times where healers are unable to heal me or if my health dips to an uncomfortable level. 11. List scheduling conflicts (include times for possible weekend 10mans): None that I know of at this time. 12. Provide your raid damage/healing performance. Examples are Recount Screenshot with personal breakdown of attacks, WoW Web Stats (WWS), or World of Logs: Not sure if this applies for a tank :x 13. Can you take constructive criticism and being call out on mistakes (both in and out of raid)? Yes, I would expect it if I am making mistakes. 15. Final comments you feel could help your application: I know how to play!
Question why do you have Rune of Swordbreaking over Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle regardless if your defense capped the extra 2% stamina is never something you want to pass up. Also regarding your spec why don't you have 3 points in improved Icy Touch. 15% more Frost Fever Damage means more threat even though the changes to Icy Touch while in Frost Pres helped out a lot. Dancing Rune Weapon is a DPS talent. Wasting 60 Runic Power on it will actually be a threat loss. You will lose out on Rune Strikes. You are 2% under the Melee hit cap. Hit is something for Tanks that is very important in ICC especially on fights like Saurfang Heroic and the Lich King. Your gear is very behind from what would we be looking for in a Tank. You would get hit like a truck tanking Hard Modes. Currently we have 2 Palidan Tanks, 1 Feral who alternates tank/dps. What is your DPS set like and do you have meters from using DW Frost.
I have another weapon with SSG. I am willing to respec if you decide there is a problem with my spec, however the reason I use dancing rune weapon is because it now gives its threat to the tank. If I am that high in runic power I have probably not avoided an attack for awhile, so i could use the threat. I already fixed the Icy touch talent. As far as hit, I can't say I want to gem it. It is likely I would use the Dark command glyph for that. My dps is not good, I dont have any records currently for it.
Hit is something you pretty much have to gem for if your low on it. Theres been times where I've seen wipes when a Taunt missed because the Tank wasn't hit capped. Also the Craftable Legs (I know they are expensive but Saronite did drop in price) Pillars of Might are Best in Slot. http://www.wowhead.com/talent#j0EGqu0IsbobssxhxZ0gh:dGi0mV Glyph Death Strike is nice the 20% extra damage from Glyph of Death and Decay is not really needed because you aren't going to Death and Decay on a Single Target Boss fight. This is the spec I would recommend. You really don't need Subversion the extra crit is pretty much a waste of 3 talents that could be spent in a beter places. Scent of Blood for the extra Runic Power is the best choice. Also Mark of Blood is a nice one Point Talent. Also how come you are still using the standard UI? A few addons I would recommend are Pitbull for showing Targets Target and Targets Target Target. Very Useful while tanking. Also Focus Macro's for Dark Command. And Macros with Rune Strike Built into Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Heart Strike. I think anyway is easier then having to hit Rune Strike everytime it is up. Magic Runes is a nice addon to watch your Rune Cooldowns. Another addon I think it definitely needed for Death Knights is Fortexorcist, it tracks Diseases timers so you know when to refresh along with Death and Decay ETC. Omni CC is nice for Cooldowns. I will post my UI http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4369/wowscrnshot021710235012.jpg This is an older screen shot I'll have to take another one when I get home from work.
I do not have to gem hit if i use a glyph to make taunts unable to miss, That is what i would do instead of using the glyph of deathstrike. i dont often enough have surplus RP for that to be an effective choice. However i am not starved enough for scent of blood to be better than subversion for threat. i would also prefer to be able to use rune tap more frequently than to have a weak cooldown such as mark of blood which has such limited use. My pants are acceptable for me at the moment since i need the exp, otherwise i would drop them. I am not going to change my interface as i have used the standard UI for four years, and adjusting to something so marginally 'better' is not worth the effort in my mind. I use macros for rune strike on IT PS HS and DS, and i use a macro for death pact, otherwise i just bind most things. Mods for disease and rune timers might help, but I've been on my DK enough since wrath release that i have a pretty solid feel of the diseases duration. Same with rune cooldowns, or if i have death runes or not. I don't see a need to conform every aspect of my spec / interface as long as they functions fully, which i believe they do. Gear on the other hand is understandable, i can always use more, with better itemized stats. (and of course addons are something i should really consider more. they dont generally make things harder haha)
Yes I know you are using those legs for Expertise but I was saying that Pillars of Might would be good to pick up the future. If we do think theres is something wrong with your spec etc we will let you know. Its not what you think its what we think. I know Glyph of Dark Death is Acceptible if you are below Hit Cap. I have a similar problem with my Tank spec where Hit is an Issue switching from 245 Tier 9 to T10. A few other questions for you. What would your priority be on upgrades with Frost Badges? Why are you gemming Defense if your Defense is at 586 (Way over Cap). Your better off putting 30 Stam Gems in those slots. Your Gloves do not have a propper enchant on them. You should only Gem for Socket Bonus if the Bonus is +7 or More Stamina or with One Color + Blue Socket for the Socket Bonus. Even in your case gemming pure +30 Stam gems being over defense capped is better then going for the Yellow+Blue Socket Bonuses. 3 Gem Slots Should be all +30 Stam (Aside from Verdigris Chained Belt that is gemmed properly). Your Professions are not maxed for the bonuses. In order to be considered those would have to be changed. Mining is Acceptible for Tanking. We expect all apps to Min/Max their Character.
How many HMs in 25 man have you done? If you haven't done all of them then how can you say your spec/interface functions fully? If you are not willing to analyze possible faults in either, then you are probably not a good fit for this guild.
You might think he's not very serious by the appearance of his character, but he has very good reasons for the way he plays. He is one of the most skilled players of this game I know, and he and I have very similar philosophies of how this game should be played. Appearances can oftentimes be very deceptive.
Having good reasons for the way you play your character is just fine, as long as they are valid reasons. Not being open to suggestions, or refusing to justify why you make the decisions you do to a person who plays your class and is an officer in a guild you're applying to, is not. The goal here is to find out if we want you raiding with us. I for one don't particularly care to raid with someone who isn't open to criticism. If you've got good reasons for your choices, just respond with those reasons. We're open to your ideas.
Thats fine having your our philosophies on how the game should be played. I have my own too. Some things are just not able to be changed. Things as being over defense cap and gemming defense. If you apply to a guild you are required to answer questions. We aren't just a casual raiding guild we are a progression based guild. We have thoughts concerns that we need to be answered. I've played the game since Vanilla was release raided all content in Vanilla including downing KT in Naxx 40. TBC I didn't play too much after TK/SSC(I wish i was around for Sunwell) and have done all on 25 man except a few Ulduar Hard Modes. So I have a lot of end game raiding experience. I always theorycraft see what I can do to increase my Character to perform at it's maximum potential. I was addressing my concerns considering I'm the DK Class officer.
I gem similarly to Peers to be honest. Defense still adds Miss / Parry / Dodge even after defense cap, and parry / dodge reflect through your threat given Rune Strike, as well as the fact DKs lack the Block ability so by stacking more of the others you're just that much closer to Unhittable (Although no DK can reach the 102.4% or whatever it is). I like to gear more-so avoidance so I can RS spam, but my gear isn't heroic ICC worthy nor have I tanked much of ICC before. That would be my reasoning behind it though. I'm also a socket bonus whore. Assuming Detoxz would know more than me about DKs though. I've only done nominal research.
Man you guys went crazy while i was out lol. I will likely change most of my green gems to vivid. already working on professions (slowly). i know its a weak excuse for how bad they are, but i have 6 other 80s that i try to work on aswell. Frost badges i will be getting the stamina trinket next, and then likely my tier just incase i get some marks -_- I really do not mind explaning myself or answering questions, i did not intend to sound that way. I just have not been able to dedicate all of my time to this character, that is likely why he is not optimized completely. i will change that over the course of the next few days (brother is getting married tomorrow haha)
Unfortunately it doesn't seem as though anyone has actually mentioned that we do not currently need tanks for our 25m set up and have already declined several tank apps in the recent past... Thank you for considering Xen, but it seems as though we do not currently have a raiding spot for you. Feel free to check back later.
I'm sure you know your gear is not up to par for 25man Heroic and we are full on tanking, but we do have a spot available for a Tank in Group 3 for Ten Man Hard Modes. Kie is the one who runs it. So we could Ginvite you as a friend and help you get geared up etc.
