It's about time this game has hit major consoles. I do know it was out for Wii but I said "major" consoles. Anyhow, I don't know about most of you but I cracked out on the handheld version of the game. It will be interesting to see what they bring to table. Are there any other Monster Hunter players out there?

Nope. I have no idea how this MMO works.

  3. I played the PSP version and hated it. I thought it would be a true adventure game but the gameplay was pretty stale and the load times in between tiny zones made it unbearable. I gave my copy away.

The console version may be different.

  4. Its an MMO?

    No it's a 3rd person action platformer

    Nice.
I never had a chance to play this franchise, but I heard lots of good stuff about it.

My HugeBox360 is going to be happy.

Considering sales numbers, if the PS3 and 360 are "major" the Wii must be Godzilla. :D

  11. That's if you even consider it a console in the first place :p That's probably what Nish meant, that the Wii isn't a major console because it isn't a console. Why? It's just not up to par with what we expect of a console today. The Wii is more like... a very interactive toy.

  12. Agree.

I haven't touched my Wii since I beat Okami.

Sad though, there are some good RPG's coming out this year for it, last I heard.

my brother introduced me to the series a couple months ago and i love it. I have MHFU for the psp and i should be getting tri for the Wii.

For those who havn't played MH (or even heard of it til now) its a 3rd person action platform rpg. but get this, theres no targeting system ;)

You basically "hunt" giant ass monsters (like dragons, wyverns, etc.) After you kill them, you carve them and get matts which are used to make new weapons and armor. It's really fun and can be addictive. here's a link to a vid where it shows some of the monsters you can kill

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qWVDyLnoHs

Its also pretty technical, i was only scratching the surface. If anyone decides to play Tri lemme know.

Haha yeah the gameplay may be a little stale at first. 1 because you kind of don't know what your doing and 2 the monsters you fight are kind..bleh

But once you start to understand the game and fight larger creatures the game truly opens up.

Especially once you get your first full set of gear :D

MH Tri just came out on the Wii and scored fairly. Damn it don't tell me I'll need to buy a Wii now.

Dude I played Monster Hunter on the PS2 were it originated and loved it. I love the PsP versions as well because I had my brother and my girlfriend to play with, defeating monster's was exceptionally epic. Also this definetly MMO... I've been following this game for a long ass time. They say it's an MMO but it's definetly not. Just skimmed over the post a bit. This game is amazing, was completely amazing the learning curve was just a bit high for most players though. Although I have to admit I love that kind of learning curve, makes me happy to know I can do things with ease where as most complain it's to hard. haha I remember when my friends got it and they couldn't even beat a Kut-ku which was by far the easiest wyvern in the game. Anyways, I can't wait for this game to come out.

  19. I owned both versions on the PSP monster hunter freedom and freedom unite......just can;t get over the clonky controls seriously the dude can't swing a giant sword, and he can't roll mid swing.....seriously theres already a ton of weight going into the roll just have it so he moves. The game just utterly pissed me off.

I'll admit, the camera controls are a bit clonky. You either have to deal with not having constant camera control or use the "claw" as we've affectionately dubbed it.

However, using a greatsword, you kind of have to expect it to be slow. You're swinging around a HUGE piece of metal, you can't roll on a dime. The strategy there, against fast monsters is more of an un-sheath hit, roll away when it lands (or miss') and re-sheath your sword (rinse and repeat till a major opening shows up). As far as other dodge moves, you get an invincibility dive for gods sake!
