For those of you that haven't seen a Hex-Core yet, take a peek at this, I know it's Intel's 980 but I'd imagine the AMD to be on par with it. The gains are unreal. If you want to see it in game pay attention at 8:20
WOW 4.2GHZ Max overclock on 6 cores with 100% stability that's pretty sick <.< I wish I could get my duo that high LOL. Good luck to your PSU. Crysis core at 60 FPS V.<
"Bahrain-based e-tailer Advanti have posted on their Facebook page some numbers for the same processors that they say are official straight from AMD's mouth. According to them, the 1090T Black Edition will be priced at $295 while the 1055T will go for $199." Wow, yeah - if they can price these 6 core processors for that, considering they perform similar. Then yes they should be able to make ground on Intel. Like the article states, the Gulftown that hit the market last week (or two weeks ago? I can't remember.) is like $1090 (Saw it this morning on Newegg), and AMD wants to start pricing their lines anywhere between $200-300? Wow.
I never understood how people could buy from such an unethical company as Intel, I don't think this will make them come back to their senses. AMD has always been the best bang for your buck performer. But for a lot of people, having the superior performance and paying dearly for it has proved to be linked to their e-peen status. I'll buy one of these Phenom hexacores for my game server as soon as they become available here, and fit it with DDR2 memory (way cheaper than DDR3).
You haven't missed much. Saffaya has a problem with most successful companies. THey are too big, too profitable, monopolistic, unethical, drivining technology backward not forward; you get the point. I am relatively sure the list of Saffaya hate includes Sony, MS, and Intel and all their subsidiaries, lolz. BTW, dude on the video needs to drink more water, the incessant dry-mouth gulping was gross.
Uhm. Must have been a pretty big rock that you have been living under until now One of many things : http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-10239487-92.html Intel's history is a litany of fucking up the computer user and using illegal means to maximize their monopoly hold on the market. And on a side note, their CPU are a fucking pain in the ass to program for, retardly designed.
Nothing wrong with being big, nor making money. It's true that I have a problem with monopolistic unethical companies (who doesn't ?). Especially those that make my daily life more difficult than it should be. The problem with computing is that everyone and his dog think they are veteran professionals just because they use a PC. Seven, I'm not going to tell you how to behave in the military, fly a jet or refuel with a tanker in-flight. Not going to argue with anything you share with us about it. That's your professional specialty, experience of life, and I deeply respect it. Now, I simply wish you'd return a modicum of the esteem I have for your career to mine. All the computers I have used, programmed on, their OS, their design , their philosophy, the ones that were ahead of their time and still not outdone, the ones that are still retarded today. When I started as a kid, the CPU could not hold a number greater than 255 and the frequency barely reached the single megahertz. I haven't forgotten any of them, I have a master degree in computing science and I have always been thirsty for understanding everything I didn't know. So, when I say Intel has behaved unethically, it's not a fanboy comment, it's a professional statement based on a long series of established facts. And for the record, my Xbox has an Intel CPU, I own both the first Xbox and the 360, I have never owned an apple computer, and I currently have only MS OSes on my PCs. Trying to discredit other's statements by portraying them as irrational hatemongers is childish. Please drop the act.
So, does that mean you dislike Microsoft too? I remember most of the lawsuits again Intel, but there's a decent amount of other technological companies that have pretty demeaning lawsuits against them as well. Wasn't tryin' to get any argument goin' on. I've used both AMD and Intel and I just like Intel more /shrug.
Saffaya, thanks for the reply. My comment has nothing to do with your professionalism or area of expertise. It has to do with your incessant rage at what seems to be every major electronics corporation on the planet. I really don't care whether AMD chips are better than Intel chips to program for, you go ahead and deal with that all you want. But to say that these companies are "unethical" or to use other blanket statements you've made is really just bordering on the childish. I think if you take a look back at many of my snarky replies to the litany of 'Anti-THE MAN' posts you've made, I haven't called into question your knowledge of the technical subject matter, but your attitude toward success and free market thinking. But, now we have totally borked this thread, rerail please.
Heres an attempt. That reveiwer guy really sucks at Shift. I heard if you drive left handed then you won't crash into as many walls. Choo Choo? Eh, I tried.
I haven't seen anything yet, but when I do I'll be posting ASAP. I'm watching ASUS & Gigabytes boards too to see what/if any news/speculation there is on new mobo's being built for these bad boys. To everyone else: GTFO of my thread! If you're going to hijack it you talk about movies, nothing else. I don't care about anyone's opinions on companies ethical behavior and what not. One thing to note: the latest and greatest isn't about e-peen as you so delicately put it, early adopters pave the way for value shoppers so if you want your cheap hand-me-downs then stop complaining.
This makes me want to hold off on getting a new PC/building my own. Even if I go with the builds I am currently looking at, the prices should drop some processor wise. If I like the performance of the Phenom II X6 enough, It'd be well worth the investment to upgrade and be able to stick with it for a long long time. I'll be following this thread closely, thanks for the info Van!
yes, because seriously AMD's pricing for the hex-core is very sexy and I'm pretty sure that it would last me awhile......I mean crysis is still the only game in the past that has truly sucked up my CPU but even then it still only hits 75% of usage and it eventually comes down to my GPU. But still wondering what the mobo companies are going to do and hopefully that make them affordable as well.
