Vanille make up your damn mind Australian or British or American accent fuckin hell.

Story stars to pick up after about 10-12h they are still pretty slow with giving you the back story and god I hope there is a reason for Vanille's accent.

I know right? I can't really tell where her accent is going.

I'm at about that mark, so I'm really hoping it picks up soon. I've been regretting my purchase for quite a while since I've started playing, wishing I would have gotten BC2 for PS3 instead. :(

They need to let you raise the frocobo. That would be mindblowing. Then he can be riding in it's hair instead.

Tried my best to like this game, didn't, went into Gamestop this morning, traded it for Bad Company 2 for the PS3.

After X everything went to shite, and this latest installment makes me feel the same way.

I like it....but for a final fantasy game its too damn linear, it kills the point of a Final Fantasy Game, if the story was as engaging as X's then maybe I would enjoy it as much but for the X series the original X is the only good one so far.

Exactly, this game has the EXACT same problem that XII had: the story is bland and uninteresting and too confusing. Even at 10 hours in, I still had NO clue really what was going on, just some vague ideas thrown my way to usher me along, this game was all hype, no substance for me, the only thing that was really interesting was the new battle system, but I couldn't enjoy that because the game was playing Party Roulette all of the fucking time!

And don't get me started on the soundtrack.

lol yeah I hear you, the battle system though is a hand holding experiment its utterly boring. Paradigm shifts are annoying and actually add no strategy into what to do in battle as you can own anything off the face of the earth by staggering a target. I got the storyline....being 25 hours in lol, but the only thing that keeps me at the game is to see the landscapes and boss ideas. Eidolons btw are the weakest in all of the series there is no actual use for them in battle because they look like crap, they transform into planes, motorcycles and go-karts....plus my standard attack hits for 15x more damage.

judging by the amount of threads on various forums, i'm going to have to disagree with hand holding... or else people could just win by auto-battling, which does not seem to be the case. personally i only ever auto-heal/hinder, rest I do manually since I feel i'm more efficient than the ai.

paradigm shifts are a very good addition considering they don't seem to want to let you control your whole party, but also you can exploit the way shifts work by shifting into a paradigm that you're already in (recharges your atb meter) so that you can spam the hell out of it. Though I do enjoy not doing that, or else I just play fights with the words "Paradigm Shift" practically burned into my screen :p Also, while you can destroy anything once you've staggered it (that *is* the point), proper use of shifts is what allows you to do that consistently and quickly.

eidolons are different in this game, but still very powerful. the idea behind them is that they get you out of a tight jam (full heals you and then tanks the target) and if you build up your gestalt meter before they time out, you get access to their max level attack which is where the money is. however, if you try to use like Zantetsuken level 1... i agree with you wholeheartedly. Also, they're one of the only ways to kill an adamantoise without being appropriately strong.

i guess it wouldn't be as suspensful an ending, but id like to see remakes of the NES/SNES games with the new graphics and interfaces

So, 8 hours in and have had a group of more than 2 for about hour total. The rest of the time it's been pairs of people. If this game splits up into a pair after going through the trouble of reuniting everyone together one more time im taking it back, im fucking tired of this pairs bullshit.

Oh and im tired of Hope's fucking crying every 5 minutes in a 10 minute cut scene. It's ruining the game.
