Just because it's rated 1200W doesn't mean it'll use that much power at all times, or even at all. That's just the maximum amount of power the unit can produce. If his rig is using 700W of power, it won't matter whether it's a 700W PSU or a 1200W PSU.

My thoughts exactly Rubius. It leaves lots of room for future upgrades.

All of the parts (2 packages - 1 for the Case and 1 for the rest) shipped Monday at 1pm PST. It's 3 day UPS select shipping. So I'd say Wed. or Thursday I should be building it.

So I got all of the parts and built it....and no video. :( Waiting for MSI to call me back. All the stuff is turning on I think. The blue LED CPU activity lights are on but no video from any onboard video or either video cards.

The only issue I have (i think) is that the 2nd card is only x8 not x16. I would have to put it in the 2nd PCIe slot to get X16 to both cards I think. But there is no room because the cards are to big. Oh well.

Is your second card in a plain PCI slot? Is this a function of the slots on the MoBo or maybe the length of the cards?? YOu aren't getting SLI if you don't have the cards in the PCIe slots (unless something has changed with the coding fo SLI). Most of the new gen MoBos use double spacing for their PCIe slots in order to fit the oversized new gen vid cards, if yours didn't have that, it is definitely something I missed when I looked at your build.

No I do have both cards in the PCIe slots. Basically in theory there is enough room to put the 2nd card in the 2nd slot but the cards would be touching. I think im going to get a friend of mine to try to put the card in the 2nd slot. So technically the spacing on my mobo is 2 slot...its just such little room to maneuver it makes it extremely difficult. But my 3dmarkvantage is pretty accurate for my cards+my CPU so I shouldn't complain to much.
