Bronze playoff was crazy... especially down to the last 3-4 minutes. If I were into nail-biting I probably wouldn't have any left now But, congratulations Finland on the bronze, really good to see them playing so well after the semi-finals. Looking forward to the USA vs Canada rematch now... both have had some great moments in the last few games. We could be looking at quite a game if they're both at their best.
It was a nice match against Slovakia, but I still have bad taste in my mouth after that match against USA. That was the most horrible shit I've ever seen and never could have imagined Finland could be so BAD. Today's USA - Canada should be interesting, as long as neither of them screws up like Finland did. Also, Patrick Kane should burn in hell
Simply put, if Canada plays the way we have been since the US game, we're golden (literally). It'll be a close game, but I think we'll take it. As long as our team doesn't go stupid like we did in the last 10 minutes against slovakia. That first goal was stupid, then we decided to focus on doubling up for big hits in our defensive zone... Nailing the guy on our net over Luongo was hilarious though (for those of you who didn't watch, a Slovakian hooked a Canadian for a solid 5 seconds in front of a ref then knocked him down. About 10 seconds later he grabbed the puck and the Canadian knocked him into the back of the net, which went over luongo, who was laying on the ice thinking 'wtf?')
pay for entertainment you cheap piece of crap! Canada had already lost against Sweeden I think it was in Womens curling (as if that were a real sport).
Curling's only enjoyable if you understand the game and appreciate a battle of tactics, and old guys who can't touch their toes (exaggeration, but you know what I mean). Also.... 1-0 CANADA WOOO! @ Areli: Its available online. In Canada we go to ctvolympics.ca, but i don't think the streaming works in the states. NBC might show it online.
YAY Canada, rejoice!!1 You are now .500 against USA!!!! Canada: Always Striving for Mediocrity, usually Failing to Achieve it! All kidding aside, great game, great day for hockey, Congrats to Canada, awesome job!!!!
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/medals?sort=gold Kinda stupid when the same countries always win. I guess money wins.
That was an incredible game. I actually wasn't expecting it to be quite as close as the bronze match, but I was very much wrong. USA played exceptionally as well - again Miller was proving that he was the best goalie in the tournament, and that play when down 1-2 with only a few seconds left in the third period... that was definitely something to be proud of. (The Finns found themselves in a similar situation against Slovakia last night, but managed to hold on and score a goal themselves as the Slovaks had left their net open in a risky - but necessary - ploy to boost their numbers on attack.) I think I can fairly say that heading into OT, nobody had any clue who was going to win. America could definitely have taken this one, but it was to be Canada's day. (Not just to win, but to set a record for most gold medals at a single Winter Olympics. )
YYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssss! Had to do it Also, I just wanted to say that the Canadian coach made a stupid decision to tell the team to play completely defensively with no offense for the last 10 minutes of the third...
Yeah, that probably wasn't a good move. Canada had the chance to put the game to bed there, but didn't. It made for more of a thriller, sure, but it doesn't make it a good decision.
Actually Ken Hitchcock and Mike Babcock were heard by the media correspondant sitting in between the two benches yelling at the team to Keep Pushing and Not to sit back but at in the moment of the game with US pushing, it was a natural response by the team to try to protect a lead rather than trying to score an insurance goal. Either way it was a friggin great game! LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Ah, OK. And yeah, the crowd reaction when Luongo made a save (especially the good ones) was quite amusing.
