Well... you know, with the performance Canada put up against the Swiss a few hours ago, it wouldn't surprise me all that much if USA does win on Sunday. Fingers crossed though.

prNu - I take it from the flag that you're from Finland? Best of luck to those guys on Sunday (as well) if so - maybe it's time to get revenge for Turin. ;)

Well, anything can happen :p I just think either Canada or Russia is going to win the whole thing, that's how it looks on paper anyway :p

We have gramps on ice :( Teemu Selänne and Saku Koivu are like 200 years old when put together ;P + Teppo Numminen is freaking 41 :p

Don't remind me of Turin, makes me sad :(

If we lose to Germany tomorrow, I'm gonna change my nationality :(

If Canada plays like they did against the Swiss, my guess is that they'll lose in overtime. The problem with Canada is that they don't play like a team (which is getting slightly better), but mostly that they keep trying to look pretty doing everything. If they start playing practically they'll dominate.

Makes sense. I really haven't watched much hockey, but I figured, when in Canada, do as the Canadians do :D

Looks like Finland was pretty easily able to beat Germany after all. Sunday could have two pretty intense games I think.

Yeah, Slovakia vs Czech will be a great game, and I think the women's team is playing, but that will be utter domination unless its USA vs Canada as well, which will be the only good game in the tournament.

    Heh. heh. heh.

Well, it gave the team a reality check. They were playing better at least, but not better enough to make it count.

That isn't the end of the show, of course - the tougher competition to come could actually help the Canadians. We shall see.

Canada isn't actually out... it's a significant setback, but they remain in the competition. Will have to get through Germany, Russia and probably Sweden to face the US again though.

top four teams get a bye.

lower 8 play qualifying game on the 23rd.

    quarterfinals start the 24th.

US has drawn top seed thanks to their stellar play.

it does look like Canada WILL have to play both Russia and Sweden to face the US - Germany will be a breeze though. so the road is long and tough, but they have the talent to do it. could make for some ridiculous dramatics on their part if they come through.

how stupid for NBC last night to relegate the game to MSNBC. I know people would have been plastered to their TV if it was on free network last night. and the fascists would only let people who already HAD cable watch it on the interwebz. now how stupid is that?

After all the above, it probably wouldn't be fair not to rub today's results in.

    At least a little bit.
