Having worked with a number of the possible combinations of the above, I think it's mostly hogwash. AMD may own ATi right now, but that doesn't mean a Radeon card only realizes its full potential when paired with an AMD processor. This because friends of mine have run with the Intel/ATi combo for years and I've been rather partial to the AMD/Nvidia setup myself (although I run AMD/ATi at the moment). Not once did I ever see a noticeable difference between the machines. Bear in mind though that this is based not on numbers and fact, but on the general feel I have with my rigs of the past and those of my friends.
Yeah I ran Intel/ATi for a while but have switched since. Really - I don't think it matters, maybe its just a way to market "bundles", who knows?
Or maybe it's because Intel and Nvidia have more money to throw around and get their logo's stamped on game boxes. But yeah, who knows? More importantly maybe; Who cares?
The way Intel is losing money to lawsuits and ATi is putting the foot down on nVidia lately this won't be the case if it keeps up. Either way, do what ya do - buy what you like!
wow, i thought this was about BFBC2, not processors and graphics cards. anyway, ill definitely be picking this up and im sure ill see you guys in game once in a while.
have you played the AvP demo? It's not very good at all. It may be a non-selling point for you if you haven't tried it yet.
Yewah the Demo gave me headaches... and it was horrible. Even worse than the original AvP... I can't believe they you have to pay 50 bucks for this. Even with directx 11, I doubt it could make up for the discombobulated gameplay. Ugh. All my friends deleted it with a passion after we played the AvP demo.
Yeah, I played the demo for about 10 minutes; couldn't remap the keys even though I went into the options and did so. I'm buying it for the single player which will be great fun, and for the survivor mode or whatever they call it where you have 4 co-op marines vs. a bunch of baddies. And back on topic, I still haven't played the demo for BF:BC2 but I'll still end up getting it because it looks like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed BF2 and BF2142 back in the day.
