    Background:

Hi guys, I am currently using a Logitech G11 Keyboard and Logitech MX518 Mouse which are both corded. The main reason I got the two was because the keyboard has macro keys on it for online gaming and the mouse has two side buttons that you can bind to many game actions.

Recently though ive been thinking of hooking up my computer case to my 40" LCD TV instead of having it on my 22" Acer monitor since they both have 5ms refresh rate its obvious that a 40" screen would be better then 22" for gaming. So a wireless keyboard and mouse would be essential to doing this so that I dont have cords running all over the room where the tv is.

I dont really use the macro keys on the G11 that much since there arent that many games that are combo based (like Age of Conan was). All the wireless keyboards that I have seen dont come with any macro keys either so I guess thats out of the question if I go wireless.

    Summary:

So right now ive been thinking of getting a Logitech Coordless Wave set to use with my TV to replace my Logitech G11 keyboard and MX518 Mouse. Do you guys know any better wireless gaming keyboard & Mouse combos before I pull the trigger and buy it?

    I highly recommend this mouse:

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse - Mouse - Wireless - RF

    $65 new

The Logitech G7 Cordless Mouse delivers extreme cordless performance with a 2000 dpi laser engine for blinding speed and precision response. The G7's full-speed, bi-directional USB connection sends a blazing 500 reports/second over 2.4 GHz wireless for a bulletproof connection. Dead batteries won't stop you mid-mission, thanks to a five-level power indicator and twin "hot-swappable" Li-ion battery packs that recharge while you're racking up points. Use Logitech's SetPoint software to customize your mouse with advanced features such as game detection and adjustable sensitivity (including independent x- and y-axis settings). The programmable tilt wheel adds an unprecedented level of control and gaming power.

While I haven't used the G7 that bara suggested, I do own an MX Air, which is another RF mouse made by Logitech, and I must say the responsiveness on it is stunning.

Bara, I did a bit of research as your blurb really peaked my interest, where/when did you get yours as it is not listed on Logitech's website nor does it seem to be in production anymore?

you want the Razer Mamba... its a dual function mouse, you can use it both corded and cordless(cord attaching to the transmitter) which is bloody useful.

it has the 2nd highest DPI of any mouse (that i know of) and the highest DPI cordless, it also has full programmability and macroing for the keys (of which, there are four exta, two on the side and two on the shoulder). also i believe it has better tech, halfing the 'wireless lag' that youll feel on cordless mice. but thats just what it says on the site.... i havint really checked, dont feel much delay in it though ^^

if you have anything resembling a life.... the mouse will never die on you, just leave it on the transmitter/charger overnight, but if you like me.... itll die after about 14 hours of near continuous use... at which point you can plug it it and itll charge while you play corded ^^

costy though, but all high end gear is.

will do :), I got the Mamba from buy.com's ebay auctions (for the 10% bing cashback) it looks like I might get the mouse on Saturday according to the tracking number.

From the pictures it looks like a pretty sexy looking mouse and 7 mouth buttons sounds kick ass, imagine the binding possibilities :D (Zoom,Crouch,Prone (or something else since BC2 doesnt have prone),Run,Drop C4, Detonate, throw grenade) sounds like a kick ass mouse for Bad Company 2.

Most games will allow you to use modifiers as well, so you can Shift + 7 Buttons / Ctrol +7 / Alt etc...

sorry to hear you had some problems... i use a generic no-brand black felt-ish mousepad and ive never had any problem with jumpyness. :S

and what do you mean you turned the DPI down?! thats like buying a Ferrari and never going over 30km/h! maxing it has all kinds of advantages, you get to be a 'twitcher', which is a huge advantage in fps once you adjust to it.

also, it acts like security ^^, ive lost count of the time times someone has reached over my shoulder and grabbed the mouse to show me something (or w/e) and werent able to control the mouse well enough to actually do anything other than flail about impotently. (then they say something like 'wow, your mouse is really sensitive' and you get to be smug :D )

i recommend you wait untill you adjust, then crank it up 200dpi, once you adjust to that.. 200 more, and so on.

yeah, you get to where you can spin your character a 180 with the tiniest of movements but with high dpi and practice you can do the 5 degree shifts just as smoothly. leave the dpi up till you get hit retirement age and just can't handle it anymore or something :p

The DPI is set at 5600 DPI with 1000 Hz polling speed :D. I am running those settings both at max, the setting that I had to turn down was the motion speed in the control panel because the pointer was flying across the screen too fast :p. Once I started to use the mouse with the metal gamers mouse pad that came with my Stacker 830 Evolution case though this thing is amazing! I would feel kind of sorry for people who dont know how to fix the jumpyness though as there seem to be many many reviewers that complain about having jumpiness with the mouse. I found out that this was caused by the surface that I was using the mouse on which was an old mouse pad that I had with a photo on it. Once I changed the mouse pad to a gamers grade mouse pad the issues stopped.

If they included a Gamers mouse pad with the mouse they would get all 4-5 star ratings from reviewers and nobody would complain about the jumpiness.

and bah, thats cheating! you must max the cursor speed too! eventually anyway. though im glad to hear you got it sorted out, my mouse pad is all black, perhaps that why ive never had issues.... though its certainly not gamer-grade XD

Gamers grade have a bunch of tiny little textures on them to make it easier to read. The metal one that came with my stacker 830 evo has a surface that looks like sandpaper bumps with a mech on the bottom right corner

You didn't say in your conclusion whether you'd recommend it or not.
