I'll be playing PC with XoO on our server, That's for damn sure!! Hopefully there will be some decent ladder or league modes for this game.
I'll be joining you then that's for sure. I seriously have an issue with this game. I haven't been excited about a game like I am for this one in so long. I watch that battlefield moments video at least 10 times a day. I know it's sad but the video is so freaking sweet.
There is a specific "Squad Mode" which is 4v4. It looks like it was designed specifically for us MW2 honkys.
Gamers have been up in arms over the issue of dedicated server support in the wake of Infinity Ward’s startling decision to strip Modern Warfare 2 of the much-needed capability. Since then, EA DICE has sought to clarify its policy for the studio’s upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is due on the PC and 360 on 5th March. The company explained that players interested in playing the game online would have to rent dedicated servers provided by the company instead of building their own. This is a major detour from the policy established by the company in its previous games, one which DICE claims that it will not be profiting from. Speaking to EuroGamer, DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke stated that the reason for this policy is to “protect the game’s integrity on PC” and to presumably prevent hackers from breaching the game’s security, echoing similar words spoken by Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling prior to the launch of Modern Warfare 2, a game that suffers from an abundance of unresolved exploits and countless glitches. Van Dyke added that private dedicated servers have been picked in “all major regions of the world” and that the contracts with these hosting providers “does not earn DICE a profit”. It’s DICE’s business if they want to make a little extra profit by giving out contracts to select hosting providers, but they shouldn’t pretend like they aren’t in it for the money. While it's true that it’s a business, depriving independent providers of their revenue and hurting the dedicated server community for the sake of making a few extra dollars isn’t the right way to go about it. WTF is this?!? Any other news about this? Can you run mods? Is this only for renting servers? Will this harm the community?
Exactly. But im afraid they could mess this whole thing up. Not was bad as IW but close enough to make it unenjoyable when dealing with servers.
360, gamertag in sig. If we need more players for a PC division (if the rented ded. servers Comm was talking aren't terrible) then I'll have to pick PC then. I can't do both, don't really have the monies for that :] But I want to play this with Xoobies.
I'll have to see first how this pans out with another group of people that I play with. But one thing's for sure: I will be getting this game. Too bad about the servers we have to rent though. At least we got some control over them. Or I think we'll get it.
Have your group join XoO baby? Seems like we will deploying when this releases and I would hate to own your face off
What he meant to say is that the squad mode is 4 teams of 4 facing off on one map. It's a cooperative free for fall mode where players are fighting for kills. It's infantry combat with 1 heavy armored vehicle in a central location. Check it below. There is also a secret squad mode they are keeping under wraps for the moment I believe it's some kind of horde mode or a variant of it. "FUCK ME DROP THAT MOTHERFUCKER!!!!"
FPS is where my roots are. I played FPS games competitively from Doom 2 (Anyone remember the online service Dwango per chance?) on... Then a bud from work got me hooked on MMO's.. I've been getting the FPS itch again here lately and I'm thinking about giving this a real shot. Looking forward to playing with all of you!
Heh... "Group", "a clan with interest in BF:BC2", call it what you will. Whether I'm still playing with them by the time the game comes out is a different matter altogether and it depends on a few things. But them joining XoO is a bit out of the question, I think. Besides. If I don't join XoO in this game but them instead, you would have to be watching your back a lot, lest you want my knife sticking out of it.
On their main page - "RT @L_Twin: BFBC2 Limited Ed. is now available on Steam: http://bit.ly/5Meje8 - Beta will show for pre-orders' only when it's ready to DL! " I just bought it off steam ^^ (Became availble though steam) Although i have to say i find it alittle stupid that for a downloadable version it costs £35 where as a Disk copy costs just £25.
By the way, any word on going prone in the PC version? I recall something about the PS3 Beta where you couldn't. Did anyone catch some news on that?
